G46 for sale on ebay

13 Mar 2013, 10:34pm
Sorry if it has been posted before but just found this

http://r.ebay.com/toQoy6

Could be the first G46 on the road? Be really nice to see it on the road atStoneleigh
13 Mar 2013, 10:42pm
Yes it's my car, sadly I just don't have the time to finish it and I agree that it would be good to see it on the road at Stoneleigh.

The response from the eBay add has been astonishing. It's gone from 99p to over £2k in just a few hours and I'm getting a LOT of messages asking for a cash price.

Stick the reserve at £6-7K and you will be setting a healthy market price for the G46. I am sure all the other G46 builders will appreciate it. ;-)

If it was finished then my reserve would be higher than that but sadly, part finished kit cars never make very much and I have to accept that. I would never get back the money that I have put into it so at this point it's probably worth more to me to sell it to somebody that can put the time in to get it finished quickly so that I can use it to advertise the G46 kits. It could make somebody a fast few quid if they could put a bit of effort into it as it won't cost much to get it done now. It's almost at my reserve price already and with the amount of interest so far I think that it would go for £10k+ once on the road.

Good luck with the sale matey. One day you'll actually get a car you can own and drive for more than 10 mins! :)

I sincerely hope it goes to a good home and is completed.

It would be fitting if this car ('Orca') was the first G46 on the road.

Gaz

I was under the impression that you took on the rights to the G46 and marketing the car? or is that with Ribble

or

is it rudderless and afloat.

Good luck with the sale
14 Mar 2013, 4:12pm
Charman, yes I took on the rights to the car and they are with me still. I simply dont have the time to finish car No.1 and rather than see it sit in the corner of the workshop gathering dust I thought that it would be better to see it finished.
14 Mar 2013, 4:28pm
Gaz, are you working on other cars? If so any pics...
14 Mar 2013, 8:06pm
Hey gaz...have you pic from the chassis?, the engine?...thank's & best regards
14 Mar 2013, 8:16pm
I have no pics at the moment of the engine and chassis but I can take some tomorrow. The chassis is solid with no rust (I must have wrote this 30 times since last night!) Im getting so much interest in the car that I cant keep up with the ebay messages at the moment and have well over 300 people watching the car.

Good luck on the sale bud, shame you aren't able to finish it yourself but it looks like you will get a sale on eBay.

I would be emailing all those that don't win telling them that you could do them a kit to build their own.....:icon_cool:

Any more photos most welcome.
Good look with the sale, I hope it stays in this country.

It would have been nice to have a finished demonstrator to boost sales surely????
16 Mar 2013, 12:40pm
It would be lovely however I dont have the time available right now to finish it and after my experiences of paying people to do the work, I would much rather finish it myself.

The long term plan is to build a new demonstrator however this isnt going to happen in the near future.

Maybe the vehicle is not presented in the way the current owner prefers?

I'm not sure that 'Orca' showing up at Exeter in 2012 still unfinished from its debut in 2011 did it any favours. As was stated by the owner in 2011 'people just didn't get it' and it wouldn't say much for the marque if it turned up incomplete at Stoneleigh too, so perhaps starting with a new broom is the way to go.

- Although I'm beginning to wonder if the project isn't cursed considering the difficulties one or two on here are suffering. Did anyone in Poole shoot any Albatross?

.....or maybe they took a day off to play golf and someone shot an 'Albatross'* by accident?

I think on this particular site in future a 'Double Eagle' should be referred to as a 'Cobra'...(esp. at Augusta..)

(*A hole played three strokes under par. Also called a Double Eagle- Wiki)

Or kill a whale? You know, Orca, killer whale? Oh, never mind.

:drum: OK, that was quite a good one.

Im encouraged by the response to the ebay add so far. With almost 450 watchers and answering questions becoming almost a full time job it has to be good news for the others that are building G46s at the moment.

and for future sales once you get up and running?
20 Mar 2013, 7:49pm
Decent price at £8,600 - I expect you're relieved! Well done, the car looked really good so I'm not surprised.
20 Mar 2013, 7:59pm
Cheers Towed, that is more than I had expected it to go for with not being finished, although in the end it had more that 550 watchers so I was confident that the price would go up at the last min. It looks like the car is going to its new home in Belgium at the weekend.

Its good news for the others that are building G46s at the moment. I still want to see one on the bloody road!

Just a bit better than the £2500 that you told one buyer to offer hey Mike. No hard feelings though, you did me a huge favour. :biggrin1:
