hi all, looking at building a sammio/ribble on a herald chassis. will it make any odds to reg it if i repair the chassis outrigers,and side rails with box sections as original size ect. box is cheeper than repair sections !
I'd agree with that. The chassis needs to be 'unmodified' and replacing rotten parts with new metal doesn't count as modification.
It's also fine to make minor changes - I'd removed the original exhaust bracket and welded a length of 20mm box section across the boot outriggers to act as a new exhaust hanger. Shortening/lengthening/widening, however, would break the rules, and it also seems that individual examiners have different ideas about what's acceptable and what's not.
Ultimately, if the Peterborough or Poole offices are still open and one of them's in striking distance for you, just go there and save a lot of hassle.
