This is the Basic Mistral package we are offering as out of the mould after trimming. It has a 90" wheelbase and will cost £795 the body could be lengthened or shortened with relitive ease
With the package in its constituent parts it's fairly compact for easy pick up or delivery 5x6x2 feet aprox
When we fixed all the parts together and had a complete body it seemed rude not to dress our naked spitfire that we have in the yard
as the spit has a shorter wheelbase we moved the front wheel to center in the arch this could be done by cutting the fiberglass bodyshell with no problem
The spitfire we have is set up for the A352 so still has front and rear bulkheads in place as is the rest of the cut down tub
Then we started to dress the car with random bits and bobs we had in the workshop just for fun
as time goes on we hope to be able to offer lots of extras for this body like bonnet return and bonnet, doors + hinges, windscreen, headfairing, boot opening + boot and even a roof
Are you still going to be based at Chris's place (at least the molds)?
I have been thinking of getting Chris to do me a mild customisation involving an A352 front with a Mistral back and an BMW Z3 underneath.
It would be useful for me to be able to see the Mistral in the flesh (plastic?) and ideal next to an A352 to see if it is possible and mor eimportantly if it will look too wrong. I am after a car of the style of the period rather than a replica.
Can you have a roof with a fly screen or do you have to have a proper windscreen?
Hi Gary first thoughts on the hard top would be to have a glass windscreen as part of the hard top. You could then remove roof + windscreen in one and change to a fly screen using the same fixing points when the hardtop is removed on a sunny day.
Are you still going to be based at Chris's place (at least the molds)?

Hi Nick there is nothing sinister going on the moulds will be in the tribute workshop just trying to help by splitting the workload a bit.
Chris has told me about your project every time a z3 comes in for Mot we rush over to have a look. Steve the mot tester gets upset when we start taking the panels off the car he’s moting though.
We should have an A352 and a Mistral in the workshop by the end of next week give Chris a call. If you can’t get to us yet we will take some photos side by side for you.
Oh just read the OP in detail, roof may be on the way, spectacular, other question of grille still stands though

What about wipers... you can see above flyscreen if it rains!
sorry link now works i think. As for the hardtop we will work on the one for the A352 then apply the same idea to the mistral will upload pics when we have something to show
Today we went to see Dave, he is building a lengthened A352 on a herald so we took the opportunity to try the mistral body on his chassis.

As the last pic showes the body wasn't in totally the right position in terms of height. The cockpit space would be increased when the body is in the correct position. but the herald and spitfire would both for make a good base
D&O - that is pretty close to what I am going for but mine may have the A352 front end. What donor are you planning? I am thinking BMW Z3 for a more modern car and I need an auto.
Don't blame you. I have a 1969 Scimitar SE5 on the drive part way through becoming a G46 which I have had to sell since snapping my foot off.
The BMW is a marriage of convenience. Reliable automatics where the gear shift wasn't total slush went that common 20+ years ago. I want something that is a little bit fun to drive, even with just two pedals.
