I fooked my leg quite badly recently. I was in the process of building a Sammio G46 which is now stopped as I won't be driving three pedalled cars again. The good news is they are not amputating the foot, just fusing the ankle so while I wait for the operation I thought I would plan my next car.
Tribute did great stuf with my TVR so I keep an eye on this forum too. I love what they did in a couple of weeks with the A352. I was wondering if they could do something similar with more modern tin. Something like a BMW Z3/4 or Audi TT.
I thought they could make it more of a mishmash so they have the classic lines with most of the modern interior retained. Not sure if it would work aesthetically or practically which is why I opened it to the forum rather than approaching Tribute directly.
What do you guys reckon? Think Eagle Speedster looks and interior trim without the £500,000 price tag.
Chris, if you fancy a go then if I shift the G46 I could possibly leave a car parked down you way to play with. No rush as I don't get operated on until mid/end Jan end then another 3months after that before I can put my foot down but it would give me something to look forward to.
Don't bust a gut together it photoshopped up for me as I have at least another three months after the operation this month while I am none weight bearing so none driving.
I just wondered how you felt about keeping more of he modern comforts of the interior with the classic shaped exterior. I think it would work as we are not trying to create a replica but rather do an homage to he cars.
Having said that, I have been looking at a few 2.8 Z3s in the classifieds...
Z3s are more in my price range at the moment
[edit] just looked on some salvage sites and might stretch to a bashed up Z4 if that makes it easier but I am guessing you would have a bigger market for Z3 kits at the moment
I have been thinking about a Z3 being a good base for a body conversion recently. The Windscreen and doors will probably be the stumbling blocks for a 50's 60's style vehicle although I was thinking a Z3 might work clothed in Ferrari California outwear (60's california) or with the windscreen chopped an Aston Martin Zagato spyder.
Casamolino - hard to make out on the phone but that looks a bit Zagoto. I have always found their styling a bit heavy preferring the delicacy of Pinifarina.
This may be where I look stupid and tat is a Pinin design.
I am also looking for something without a roof.

I am happy with the stretch in the cockpit, I am not after a replica and would quite like it not to look like it is trying to be what it isn't.

I cannot do anything until I shift the G46 though, and am allowed to stand on my own two feet. I hope to get a operation date in the next week or so and then probably 12 weeks after that.
Given the pace you work at you will probably be at the Shanghai motor show as the third biggest car company by then. ;-)
On a serious note, I have has acouple of enquiries on the G46 so if that does go I may be able to get a Z3 which could be left with you while I recover. I know at least one other forumite who wants you to do things with a Z3 so having one to play with might help. I will let you know
Oh by the way, lower is good as long as it doesn't screw the ride and handling. I once had a TVR with interesting suspension and handling characteristics....

I think a slick modern interior (such as a slightly modified Z4's) could look great with a body inspired by the 60's.
Is that going to be possible/practical? From memory the Z3 has very low seat pans, maybe only 4-5 inches off the ground which would make speedbumps a nightmare.

There are a few modern sports cars that could work, like a lotus elise or TVR Chimaera however they are a little too expensive to be used as a donor, even a banged up car would be £4-5k.
