Any easy way of getting rid of the yellow wax?

14 Oct 2012, 9:25am
I decided to relieve some of my boredom by looking at the doors and seeing if I could do anything with them. The first thing I noticed was the amount of yellow wax was left on them from the moulds. Is there an easy way of getting rid of this?

At the moment I am scratching it away with a screwdriver and then wiping down with white spirit, then scraping away any more I can see... repeat until bored.

Hi Nick.

Thinners or Acetone on a stinky rag (must be stinky for the full GRP lamination experience). Careful that you don't drink too much of it, you will go blind!

Hope the ankle is mending.

Hello,

Just found my paintstripper and went heating the body to look for soft spots.(see thread from Mike)
There are a lot and I also experienced that the wax pops up under the toplayer!
I even traced some papertape under the surface,so this is very important to do before painting.

AND my motor runs after nearly a year off rest, and it runs smooth!

Agree with Jerome about going over the while car with a heat gun. I had never heard of voids before but have now got sick of touching the void
