Hello Everybody,

New here, just getting interested in kit cars (had no idea there were so many options and variations available).

My question is what sort of level of engineering or mechincal expertise do you need to have to be able to build one of these?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The answer to your question is the universal answer to everything!!

It depends..........................

Buy a Caterham or a Westfield and you can get a kit of parts that you bolt together, fill the fuel tank, and away you go. There's the minor (??) matter of IVA and DVLA but that's just admin..................!!

Alternatively you buy a Marlin, and a donor, and a load of other bits and pieces, and materials, and two or three years down the line you end up with a whole lot of new skills you'd never even thought of before!!

And for many, that's where the enjoyment comes in.

Good luck in whatever you choose.
