20 Jun 2012, 5:43pm
Hi, new here, so hello to everybody.
everytime I log onto this websight my computer jams, and I need to close the page, and re load-It's taken me 6 attempts to get this far!!!
I don't have any issues with other web sights or forums
Any advise????
Thanks,

Similar problem here over the last couple of weeks. Every now and again my PC hangs when I'm on this site and I get a couple of different adware urls in the bottom LH side of my screen (despite up to date Nortons Internet Security)

Any issues with the hosting site.....................??

Hi, sorry to hear you are having issues with the site.

What version of IE are you using? Is it just the forum you find problems with or other parts of the site? Also what sort of spec computer are you using.

The only advert on the forum is a google advert on the sidebar so it shouldn't cause any issues, the rest of the forum is straight Vbulletin.

I've personally not experienced any issues but I mainly use Google Chrome browser with the occasional IE 9 usage. The only time I've experienced a bit of a slow down (but not freeze) is when using a very old laptop.

Would be interested to hear your views. Oh BTW, peeps may have experienced an issue on Monday as the server was being upgraded by my host provider (out of my hands)

Cheers, John

I've used IE9 on this site (before I registered) and it was fine, Chrome is what I generally use though. If you're using an older version of IE that will probably be where your problem lies.

IE 9 windows 7 and puter is about 8 months old.
It's geting really annoying!!! Vbulletin run most of all the other forums im on and no issues!!!
Only thing I can possibly think-although it dosent matter on all the other vb powered forums-ie 9 comes with 64 or 32 bit versions, and I know there was a issue about 6 months ago with adobe with one of them-any thoughts???
the mods can see how often I log on, get jammed, log off and come on again.
Please help-also-it does only seem to be the forum-so far all the other paes seem fine.

I would expect it to work ok with the spec you quote. Have you tried clearing down your temp internet files and cookies.

The version of Vbulletin we are running is a couple of years old now which might not be helping. We do plan to update it but not for a while yet.

Are you in a position to install Chrome to see if you have the same problem in that browser? I can't think what else it might be to be honest as the forum software hasn't changed for some time and this is the first post where an issue has been raised.

Soon after I joined Madabout Forum I had some problems with things not working properly so I gave up on IE. Downloaded and installed Firefox and never had any problems since

If you can I would try using a different browser just to make sure the fault is browser related.

I had the same problem, not with this forum but with other ones I frequent.
I went to Google chrome and all is fine now.
I also turned off auto updates as I am convinced that Microsoft are gradually bringing XP users to a halt so that they will upgrade to win7.
