My name is Billy and this is my first time running a thread so go steady on me!
I will be posting my build step by step inc photo's over the next month. I have a 3/4 day slot booked at my freinds paint booth at the end of the month so it has to be ready for then.
The donor, mk1 R reg 1.6 16v one owner. The tribute roll bar fitted! (with ease) I know i should of sprayed it before fitting but i was eager to get started and quite like the grey primer colour ha.
the rear dry fitted, i thought i was going mad as could not get it to sits level, then noticed a knackard spring! hence sitting low at one side! new springs enroute!
I have used the MX5 head lights, fitted the fixing ring to the inside of the shell (fixed 6mm threaded rod with the k-rem fixing resin then fitted the head light frame so that they can be adjusted by moving the nuts. The light frame sits proud of the body and i think it looks grand, I also cut the side light fixing out of the mx5 side lights and carefully drilled a hole inthe head light bowl and bonded on the side light fixing. So now i have the side lights in the head lights and another plus is that all original wiring (plugs/fittings) and makes life easier. (pics of side lights to come)
Holes in the bonnet for the wipers. I cut some wiper legs from a scrap car and slid alloy tube over them and held in place with rol pins (so can be removed without to much hassle)

I have milled some alloy gromets to fit once painted..but im sure some rubber ones would do.
Photo of back of the head light, I cut the plastic side light fixing from the side light/indicator lense and bonded it to the rear of the head light. Make sure to totally seal the joint otherwise the lamp will mist up. this saves having to have a ugly side light elsewhere that in my opinion would spoil the lines of the car & its using OEM fittings and saves cutting wires etc and best of all its FREE.
Taking her to Bug Jam in July (taking a VW badge as tickets cheaper if going in a dub ha) after jam we are driving to Le man and having a few laps of the track then heading down the west coast in her for a week. I like the fact there is more storage space than the original mx5. I am thinking of making a stainless and oak slatted luggage rack simlar to the mgb ones that would sit over the boot lid (hinged luggage rack) so it would stop access to the boot. Any advice on what to tell the AA as i want full euro cover incase of a breakdown in France, would my policy be void if i state it as a mx5 with a body kit?
Wow Billy, not bad for 6 days of spare time! Like what you have done with the headlights, interested to see how much adjusting (if any) they will need for aim.
Reference the wipers, try these Landrover spindle adaptors, they will let you fit the older style chrome wiper arms. You can get them from various suppliers (and ebay), just google it. There are some with grub screws but couldn't get the picture to download, think they would be neater.

No plans to drive it much then!
We designed the boot extension to take 6x 4 packs of beer cans, try it.
You shouldn't need AA cover it's Japanese not Italian
alittle sanding to do but other than that...job done.
