I can't seem to get the Int Wipe working...I was sure I kept everything from my donor loom...but I think I havn't got MFU 104...so I can't work out where the wires go from the Stalk and Motor Connector...I believe the wires attach to a timer/relay box...
Could someone descibe or photo their install, so that I could see if I have this box...a description of the wiring to it would also help a lot???
My mate Steve got round this using a Sierra timer.
Not quite on my feet at the mo, but I'll try to get you the info over the weekend, he even gave me a spare, just in case so hold on mate help is at hand!
Thanks for helping out, but please take it easy matey!
The loom has a wire from the connector for "park"...
I had bought a GLR8 int timer from VWP, but i've blown three fuses now trying to wire it up...so time to seek advice
Thanks for your kind offer John, I may need to take you up on it!
I'll be in touch........... John hows your wire going?
Regards Trev
No problem mate any time. Can't make this weekend on the following (family wedding). But I'm off work for 3 days next week where I can be at your service. Or it's anytime the weekend after next.
Wiring started off scaring the life out of me. But I've found the answer to make life easier. And it's going really well and better than expected. I've think I could have the engine ready to fire electrical wise within a day. So have been doing the other bits (remote oil filter and header tank) to avoid temptation to start without mounting these. I've had her turning over on the starter with the key. I've been soldering and heat shrinking all the wiring. I have been held up with bits of this because I have a guy coming round hopefully this week about an alarm. So can't solder all the wire's I want just in case.
Trev, sorry to hear you've not been well, take it easy.
I've noticed that the wiring is causing headaches for some so would like to compile information you guys have into an article for all to see.
I'm gonna be starting a section in the knowledge base part of the site for specific build tips so would be great to kick it off with wiring diagrams, hints and tip for the 5exi build.
Doesn't need to stop at wiring of course, any specific areas of a 5exi build that 'insider' information would prove useful for others to see (I remember drive shafts being an issue)
If any of you can help out then please contact me at john@madabout-kitcars.com
If we can find the part number and where it's located on the Sieera (Model's as well) I could alway nip down to the local scappies for you and get one. Might be a lot cheaper.
I was given Ford Part Number 6048782...but of course I havn't actually seen one...but it was described as a non-variable intermittent relay for a MKIII or IV Escort...
I plugged in your relay and it worked absolutely superb mate!
You're a star
If like me, you used the original donor loom then the green/grey wire on the return from the wiper motor becomes redundant, otherwise with this relay it is plug and go!
