Mine is slightly different to most
I have made a brushed aluminium cover with period warning lamps to cover my factory standard guages.
More brushed ally on the dash and doors with the majority of the remaining interior in black pvcWoodern steering wheel with polished centre- woodern gear knob and brake lever
To come is black vinyl low back seats and a brushed ally radio
When I eventually get that far I'm going for a mixture of plain vinyl and tuck 'n' roll vinyl separated by a plastic chrome strip for the 'door' cards with ribbed rubber mat on the floor.
I'll be painting the gearbox cover and prop-shaft tunnel body colour (like '66) and fitting a wireless (to listen to while I'm waiting to be towed home by the RAC) and a proper heater so I can still drive it when the sun goes down.
After much soul searching I decided it had to have a wooden steering wheel so I have this patiently waiting on top of a cabinet in the garage:
And that won't be the only badge on the car either...
I will be creating the whole dash but I like the alloy plat look. I might have the have an instrument cowl similar to that rather than just having the dials flat on the board.
Like both steering wheels to.
I have been playing at recovering seats and trim. Practising on my pick up truck so it doesn't matter if it looks bad. First seat cover is made of old curtain fabric as it is free and I don't have any vinyl yet.
Quite please with the fit although I am not sure that floral curtain fabric is a seat covering that will be fashionable any time soon.
We put a full tonneau on the first Sammio - I took her on a trailer to Exeter with no interior and it seemed the easiest way to tidy her up..theres a pic in grey primer on the bottom of the 'getting started' page on the website.
Heres Phil Jacklins ( hopefully soon to be featured in Total Kit Car Magazine ) 2.5 example with his green tuck and roll style interior...
I had my first go at trimming an interior last night and this morning.
I haven't started the Sammio G46 build so used my pickup truck as a practice.
The link below shows everything from start to finish except the actual fitting of the vinyl to the door trim which for some weird reason I forgot to photograph.
This was for the second door so includes the lessons I learnt from the first time around (warm the material, stretch the material more, use a wooden former for deep recesses)
