Didn't take any photos as I kind of forgot. The super size dogs would have made a good snap though if I had a wide angle lens big enough.
Some interesting developments worth noting:
- The front axle design has changed. Marlin have adopted a light weight alloy Rally Designs front axle which sits more vertical than the rear leaning BMW axle, This will mean buying a wilwood set of calipers to match (supplied). In my case I asked if I could go the old route of having the BMW strut chopped as I'd already referbed my calipers etc and they were happy to do this. It is worth bearing this in mind for future builds though. the new layout is much more tidy and in my chassis I will still get the sleeker general improvement of the general re-design so a future upgrade is not precluded. I'd have liked to have gone for the new set up but it would have added extra on my current budget.
- The M3 based car Mark is working on at the moment has some very nice small rear springs in it, about 10cm in diameter and 20cm high vs the much larger BMW springs. he hasn't settled on the correct ones yet as he needs to get the car on the ground to decide on the correct spring rate but once that is decided they will be a custom set designed specificaly for the sportster and supplied by Marlin. To adapt to the rear upper wishbone there will be a bolt-in adaptor to seat these springs
Need to concentrate on getting the remaining garage issues sorted now. still need to paint the floor etc and get some more storage in plus finish the really grotty bits of restoration. It's good to have finally got the order in and they promised delivery in around 4-5 weeks-ish which is sooner than I'd expected. not in any particular hurry though so if it moves out it'll just give me more time to get other jobs finished.
