Klw

Hello I am the proud owner of the KLW shown on the header. About the car: It was built early 1987 by Mr. Chas Williams of Hallaton Lecestershire. He used to race the old Riley MPH roadster and he found that the car used to suffer a lot with scuttle shift so he decided to make a car based on the MPH but with a beefed-up chassis. The result of his toil is the KLW. He built 3 of these cars and the last one is a feature in the old Sports Car monthly magazine which I was lucky to find a copy of on E-bay. The chassis is rectangular section steel which tapers from 1. 3/4" and 3" over the front wheels to a very deep 1.3/4" X 6" underneath the passenger compartment with 8 cross members it is very rigid. The bodywork is all aluminium. The alloy wings are made in 3 sections mig welded together. The engine is 2 ltr. Pinto going through a 5 speed Ford gearbox to the modified MGB rear axel. Front axel is pure MGB with extra Woodhead dampers. There are two brake servos serving two independent systems, split front and back! She stops on a sixpence. When I bought her she was in need of a great deal of TLC. which has set me back a few thousands. Money well spent because she is the last one of three and I have her full history. Chas Williams was intending to supply as a kit at a cost of £9000 which was a lot of money back in 1987. I have been offered £23000 for her but as I said to the offerer: "where do I go to get another one" He saw my point. If anyone wants to get in touch my e mail is: gus.dacosta @ virgin.net Cheers.

Cool. Thanks for the info Gus, much appreciated, it's great that the car has been identified and some history shared. I'll add the car under the 'Specials' section.

Cheers, John
