E36 Rear Suspension

27 Aug 2010, 10:12pm
Hi guys, hope everyone is well, I have got my part built kit home and I am trying to understand how the rear suspension fits. So does anyone have any pictures of an E36 rear setup. I have looked around the build sites but none look like the bits I have. Any help would be appriciated Thanks

Thanks Timbo, these are great but just one question, how did you fix the back two fixing of the Diff carrier?

Thanks again

They were just bolted to the chassis - I've added a couple of pics to my flickr site which may help. As you can see I squeezed in the back fuel pump there which seems to be ok.
I found a problem with the shocks fouling the lower spring seats, which I solved by cutting away a bit of the seats.

Brilliant Timbo, just what I needed, I thought that was how it was but just wanted to check. Thanks again

Hi Tim,

What rear shocks and springs did you use and where did you source them from.

Cheers

That sounds like a pretty good deal.

I haven't seen any shocks under £70 each yet !!

I'm looking forward to seeing how you've put it all together. I'm nearing that time now so I'm hoping it won't be too long before the car's back from Caerphilly (and you've rebuilt the garage!!) I'm interested to see how the shocks mount to the top of the strut and to look at the top mount for the springs. It's all a mystery just now !!

Hi Nigel, there are a small number of pics in the Marlin Build CD. Did you get one of those from Terry?
