Are there any sportsters in captivity in this area? I am thinking of building a sportster but would be very grateful if I could look over one not too far away.

Sorry. You are 20 years too late! I lived in Boston for a while in the 80's. Ask Terry at Marlin. She will know who has bought a kit near you, or try contacting the owner's club.
