I'm new to this forum, but have been following it for quite awhile.
've decided to update my website with new renderings related to the Kit/specialist cars, and would like to have feedback from kitcar owners and enthusiast.
What type of new Kitcars you would like to buy, see designed and manufactured by the Kit industry today.
I have a few renderings ready that will be up on the website soon, but need some new idea's on potential cars.
These are some of mine:
1)A small FWD track/sportscar ( kind of a new Mini marcos/ GTM gold update)
2) A small retro roadster on the same chassis as the above
3) A lotus seven update
4) A small mid-engine roadster and coupe
What do you all think and what brands would you see using these concepts?
It's difficult to say. Not being much of a visionary I don't know what is new and would look good. I can only judge on what I see. I've seen some of your renderings over on PH and like your work very much so would be interested in seeing anything basically.
I know you probably won't approve but I'm also a big replica fan and am hoping that someone someday will make a really accurate and CHEAP '59 Corvette kit.
I'm not against replica's per se, I like a few myself, and I also like corvettes, in fact I've been thinking about a Mako Shark update to put on my site.
I've been researching some of the older specialist cars of the 50/60 like Elva, Era, Rochdale, Ginetta( still in business), and what design traits made them great at the time, and what should they be manufacturing today.
The paragraph was a little odd, but Threewheelers was meant as other design renderings to consider to place on my site, and not refered to the 50/60 cars!!
Sometimes it's difficult to be clear and simple at the same time.
i'm more into the performance side of kit cars, and as such i see a few possibilities:
1 - v8 musclecar to cater for those who currently go for cobras or TVRs, front engine RWD
2 - supercar for those contemplating Ultima, Lambos, or even McLaren F1, mid engine v10 or v12 (perhaps v8, but they're not my thing)
3 - Ferrari F355 (just joking)
4 - mid-engined v6 track-day and road car, probably soft-top and fixed top versions
5 - front engine RWD small beastie for track and road, single chassis with options for a 7 or MX5 type bodywork - both totally up to date styling wise of course, probably with 1.6 to 2 litre 4-cyl

Well, the idea was how to rebody a seven replica chassis, from a Locost chassis to a Dax and all the others...........
I'm trying to figure out if, any of these seven replica body designs renderings would be of interest in the kitcar industry.
Using the TONIQ-R concept idea, I created an alternative body shape for a seven chassis.
Seven relicas and Cobras are 70% of the Kit industry, but very few venture into more modern designs, or at least try as the designers of the Toniq-r have.
I don't know, doubt it will be cheap..
Depends on how expensive grp is, the locost chassis should not be much. You could just buy the locost book and make ur own chassis.
But I think that is the way to go at least to start with!
If only I had some capital I think modern sevens on the road would be very cool! With exception of the elise, gtm, 5exi and a couple of others the lightweight modern sports car seems to have vanished.
