Any tips on ground clearance for a track day car anybody?
Think mine will have five or six inches which might be a little too much. Suspension will be stiff so haw much can I get away with as I'm wanting to either lower the engine and drivers seat in the chassis or try and lower the suspension without upsetting the handling.
the lower the better!, most race cars are restricted to 40mm static ground clearance. Most road going classes are limited to 100mm, which is the minimum for a car on the road anyway to get over speedhumps.
For a specific track car, the lowest you can go is probably limited to what trailer you have and where it fouls on the car, for example, my Shelsley rubs the ground at 90mm clearance when I'm trying to put it on a trailer.

No probs getting it on trailer as the flip front will come off leaving the wheels right at the front and the rear is raked up like a TVR.
Only problem is going to be working out what 40cm is in height
The car when finished will be high as the body only weighs a fraction of the original TVR body. It will weigh less than the TVR bonnet did.
I may have to fit new springs if the suspension wont adjust down that far.
Just another problem - I like problems. I'll move the coilover topfixing points up a bit...simples.
I was looking at a sixties Cooper with a covetry climax engine in it the other day. It was an old race car and had about two and a half inches ground clearance, I could just get three fingers under it.
Is this about right centimetre wise..?
