Italia-Corse 2010 Sportscar Challenge
3–8 October

Fifty sportscars competed in the 2001 Guild of Motor Endurance tour of Corsica. Blessed with some of the most dramatic rallying roads in the world, for 2010 we are returning to this beautiful Mediterranean island.

The six day sportscar rally route starts close to the French Italian border and the Rivera, and winds through Liguria to Savona and an overnight ferry to Corsica. The beachside hotel by Ajaccio, which was our Rally Headquarters in 2001, are welcoming us back.

The Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is an American multinational corporation based in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. The automaker was founded by Henry Ford and incorporated on June 16, 1903. Ford introduced methods for large-scale manufacturing of cars and large-scale management of an industrial workforce using elaborately engineered manufacturing sequences typified by moving assembly lines. Henry Ford's methods came to be known around the world as Fordism by 1914.
Ford is currently the fourth-largest automaker in the world based on number of vehicles sold annually, directly behind Volkswagen.[7] In 2007, Ford fell from second to third in US annual vehicle sales for the first time in 56 years, behind only General Motors and Toyota.

Italia-Corse 2010 3-8 October

Route:
From the Start close to the French Italian border, the route follows one of the toughest days of a previous Guild of Motor Endurance event through roads often used for stages on the San Remo Rally. Through Liguria to Savona, and an overnight ferry to Bastia on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Corsica. Blessed with some of the most dramatic rallying roads in the world, Corsica has until recently been the home of the ‘Tour de Corse’, the French round of the FIA World Rally Championship. The Guild of Motor Endurance 2001 Corse Rally route will be even more demanding in 2010. The beachside hotel by Ajaccio, which was our Rally Headquarters in 2001, are welcoming us back.

Itinerary:
Mon 25 January 2010: entry list opens.
Wed 29 Sep: entries close.
Sat 2 Oct: evening: signing-on & scrutineering.
Sun 3 Oct: Italia-Corse 2010 Start.
Sun 3 Oct overnight ferry Savona–Bastia.
Fri 8 Oct: Italia-Corse 2010 Finish.
Fri 8 Oct: overnight ferry Ajaccio–Toulon

Eligible cars:
Sportscars, three wheelers.

Hand built sportscars.
Sportscars supplied by a manufacturer in component form for self-assembly. Cars such as Fisher, Ginetta, Lomax and Marlin.

Specialist sportscars.
Non-steel bodied sportscars which have been assembled by a manufacturer. Sportscars such as TVR, Lotus, Vauxhall-VX220, Morgan and Smart Roadster.

Classic sportscars.
Pre-catalyst sportscars such as Austin Healey, MG, Jaguar and Triumph.

Production sportscars. Pre- Dec 1999 (minimum ten years old) steel bodied two seater sportscars such as, Mazda, Toyota, MG and BMW.

Entries:
The entry fee is £675 and includes: four nights bed, breakfast and evening meal on the 4/5/6/7 Oct (mon/tue/wed/thu). Based on two sharing a room. Rally numbers; event organisation; Road Book; souvenirs and awards.

Just to say the final preparations for the 2010 rally are moving up a gear. The Road Book as usual requiring a lot of input. Day one from the hotel in San Remo to the ferry port in Savona is going to be an event in itself. And as you disembark in Bastia on Corsica the next morning you will be straight into the even more challenging roads this Mediterranean island is famous for.

Yes we know the global economy is giving us all some grief and entries are down this year. But what a shame if you miss this one. If you saw the map of the island, and each days rally route marked out, you would be thinking what an incredible rally this is going to be. The marshals are going to be working their socks off to reach all their time controls ready for competitors on these windy roads which demand a lot of concentration.

We still have a few who have said they are putting their entries in, including Richard Winter in his Brabus Smart engined Banks Europa. Basically if you haven’t already entered, and you own a sportscar, or can get hold of one, even a ten year old sportscar which a few new competitors are joining us with. And you’d like a six day holiday drive in sunny Corsica on the 3-8 October, we still have some rooms available in the hotel (with it's wonderful swimming pool) where the rally will be based near Ajaccio. Two last minute entries in. Now 19 sportscars entered.

Mark and Neil Worsfold on last years Catalunya-Aquitaine gave it their all to keep the little Liege ahead of the pack. Only to lose it by a few seconds in a special test on the last day. They have kindly lent their Liege to Mark and Ginny Endly for the Italia-Corse, 3-8 October.

Another last minute entry is Richard Winter in his Brabus engined Europa. Back in 2001 on the Guild's last rally in Corsica, Richard was in a prime position when he came across a landslide blocking the road. Like all other competitors Richard was trying to cross the island to get to the next possible control on time. Only Richard hadn't got a map of Corsica with him! Talk about a headless chicken.
