I just bought a new Sterling Pro CL alarm. I choose it 'cause my last car had one fitted and it worked well without any spurious triggers. But it seems that it comes without an installation manual - I suppose they assume it will be installed by a professional. Does anyone know where I can get one - download preferably?
Have you tried contacting Toad? They seem to be the manufacturer, but searching their site comes up a blank. Is it a discontinued product? Even if it is, I'm sure that they'd have instructions on file.
The only other thing I can suggest is to take it back to whoever you got it from, and ask for another - as the hits I've got for it in google mention that it should come with installation instructions.
Toad don't seem to have a web site. They seem to be part of a very large PLC that does all sorts of transport related stuff. I did find a website called toadalarms - only to find out that it wasn't toad at all - just a distributor who would sell me the wiring diagram for a tenner! I should coco....
I think I will have to go back to the supplier. I already spoke to them once and they told me that car alarms rarely come with wiring instructions - the manufacturer seems to assume that it will be installed by someone that does it all the time and already has the wiring details. Hmm....
The annoying thing is I bought the alarm because I have fitted the same one previously to my old 318is. Can't remember where I got the instructions now - and unfortunately I threw them away when I sold the card - doh
Finally tracked down the installation manual. Got one from the original supplier after several phone calls and emails.
It seems that it is Toad's policy now not to supply manuals for DIY installation. I suspect yet another "liability" issue as an incorrectly installed a alarm could potentially go off while you are driving and cut off the engine.....
