No spark :(

30 May 2009, 7:46pm
Hello

I am trying to get my engine to start for the first time in years.(its a kit hence the long period of time)
It is a 1.6 sierra ohc.(Creg)
My main problem is that i have no spark
I have put new Spark plugs, HT leads, Dizzy cap, rotor arm, ignition module(amp) and a new ignition coil on and still no spark
Ive cut out the suppressor, the rotor arm spins when starting and it doesnt have a alarm etc on.
Ive cleaned the ignition trigger (well kind of lol but i do get an ohm reading through it)
at the ignition coil when the ignition is on i get 12v from the black wire (+side) and only 3 from the (2)green wires (-side) i get 12v from the ht lead goin to the dizzy cap but when i put a electric test on rather then the multimeter the bulb doesnt light up.

so if i havent baffled you with my problem or bad explanation pleasssseeee help

Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

Sorted Yet?

Jon

Are you sorted yet?

If not I will check out my systems and my build drawings to compare notes to see if you are wired the same and me.

I recall finding a wiring diagram that I worked too and all was well after a double green issue and some head scratching.

The dizzy and the spark plugs are only an issue if you have the triggered pulse to the coil, if you 'aint got the pulse to the coil everything else is just there for show.

Concentrate on the pickup and amp to coil signals, once that's working the rest should work.

Jon

Pleased to hear you sorted it. I had just photographed the loom and found the diagram but you are sorted so no need to upload them for you.

I was on a track day on Saturday but had to finish early due to a seized clutch cable.

Got a few good laps in before the probelm stopped me.

Hope you enjoy your car as much.
