Hi ,

My Magenta Tarragon is currently fitted with a 1700 x-flow engine in a fairly high state of tune and is quite frankly not happy with modern pump fuel. My wifes Fiesta CVH 1400 is coming to the end of its roadworthiness and I am contemplating fitting the 1400 cvh so that I can get more practical use out of the kit.

Question :- can the fiesta CVH be fitted to the escort gt box and cross-member?

But do you need a reverse sump and pickup like the pinto requires when fitted in a MK 11 cortina ? .I couldn,t find one and actually cut through the sump
horizontally and welded it back together in reverse .Would I need to do this with the CVH to Escort set up ?

I'm sure the sump does need to be modified. Ask over on Locostbuilders.co.uk for an accurate answer.

can you not use a 1800cvh sump from a sierra

I think that is the question I am asking .I do not have access to one and thought an escort owner may have have fitted a 1.8 cvh .

but if you was going to put a 1800 in to a escort you would get away with useing all the sierra parts, but as you are useing a 1400 i would ask a good parts shop if the sump gastet is the same if so i would say the sump will fit all you would have to do then is make the pick up pipe fit.

Your implying that the sierra 1.8 cvh sump has the oil well to the rear of the engine.Is this the case?

i think so, but not 100% i know sierra pintos are rear bowl so i would think the cvh is to

I,m confused now, I definitely cut and shut the sump of a 1.8 Pinto to fit it in a MK 11 Cortina. What I can't remember is the position of the x-member on it!. I sold it about 5 yrs ago and must have actually done the work about 8 yrs. ago.

a mk2 tina will need a front dish sump.
the rwd box will fit a cvh and you can always move the x-member

Hi again ,

Since I last posted I have acqired a Sierra Haynes manual and you are indeed correct .I must have swapped the the sump the other way around to miss the drag link or something on the Mk11 Cortina, but my brain is fading fast <grn>
So the quest is on for a 1.6 or 1.8 sierra CVH. and I can just scrap the 1.4 Fiesta as is.
