I'm finally getting around to my long term plan of owning one of these. At the moment there are two on the market. One has a Fiat/Lancia twin cam engine putting out 150bhp but is too expensive. The other has a Triumph 1300 lump which will be woefully inadequate but the price is much more sensible.
A straightforward swap to a bigger Spitfire/GT6 engine would be the obvious way to go but even then I'm not sure it'll be enough. I'd really like to avoid having to rebuild the thing because of engine mount points, gearbox issues and the like so what are my options? What routes did/do the SPitfire/GT6 racers take?
PS Please don't say 'Zetec'. I'm trying to keep it looking as if the parts belong together.
