You're the only person I can think of that has a Marlin exhaust & an M20 engine in his Sportster... I have been trying to fit mine, and have a few questions.
- How far up the side panels did your pipes exit?
- Where and how have you supported the engine bay sections of the pipes? From pics I have from previous outings to Stoneliegh, I can see that Marlin use pipe clamps on the hot / exhaust side (one on the pipe that will exit the bay, one on the rear most manifold) of the engine and a strap between them. I haven't got any pics showing what (if anything) is on the cold / intake side of the engine
- Have you done any shielding of the pipes? They run very close to brake pipes leading up to the servo, and I'm sure Mr SVA / IVA will take a dim view of it if they're not.
I've been mocking it up, with axle stands holding the long pipes and whilst I can now get it equal on each side, with the pipes exiting the engine bay in the correct position to miss the louvres on each side, I'm not so sure about the height.
I've already had to make some 'amendments' with Mr Angle grinder to the length of the de-cat pipe, so the link pipe to the other side of the bay wouldn't foul the engine mount.
Not to mention the re-engineering of my AFM / Air filter mount as my existing support was *exactly* where the passenger side pipe would exit.

And do the the 180 degree spin of the oil filter / cooler outlet plate so the front manifold would clear it.
It's not easy, eh? But I guess easy isn't fun!

Cheers,
Jason
