Spec'ing a Caterham

15 Sep 2008, 3:54pm
Hello all,

I'm very much a newbie so please bear with my somewhat ammeturish questions!

I've decided to build a Roadsport SV at home (my first ever build), I've decided on how i want it spec'ed for the most part but need advice on some things! Choosing a colour is the hardest! I intend to use it for touring and trackdays.

What i would like is some advice on the pros/cons of the items i've listed in 'unsure on'. Any help greatly appreciated

Things ive decided on:
Roadsport SV
1.6 Ford Sigma (150bhp)
5 speed Gearbox
Limited Slip Diff
15" alloys
Spare Wheel/Carrier
Lowered Floors
Race 4 point harness
Track Day Rollbar
Momo wheel
Leather seats

Things i'm not so sure on:
-Ventilated Front discs & 4 pot callipers - Do i really need this for road with occasional track use? Will i destroy the standard brakes with well lets face it, hardish driving?
-13"alloys (less stable?)
-Apollo type ani-cavitation system or the one Caterham sells (is it the same?) - if a wise purchase, install before or after SVA?
-Rear tail light above spare wheel. Not seen many se7ens with this fitted... waste of money?

Any additional suggestions please?

Thanks a lot
