I am just in the process of fixing my seats to the floor. The runners have 2 x 8mm bolts each. Is it OK for the SVA to bolt this straight through the floor or should I consider using some re-inforcement. The floor is pretty stong but I am wondering what the SVA man might think about the fact it is riveted in and not welded.
I put a couple of steel strips across. Bolted these to the chassis each side and then bolted the seats through these and the floor. I didn't think the floor was strong enough on its own.
These pictures were taken before I rivitted the floor. I put silicone sealer between the strips and the floor to sael out any moisture traps and to stop any vibration noises.
Having said that, after I had fitted all the underlay, carpets and rubber mats, the SVA man couldn't see them apart from the bolts underneath the car.
I can't remember exactly but I think he might have give them a good tug to see if they moved. I remember him doing the steering wheel column because I thought he was going to break something.
