I have now got my dash in hopefully for the last time and playing around with the screen before bonding but tried my capping today and it seems too long??
Do you need to trim down the capping at all on the ends?
Thats looking good Craig. How did you alter the dash did you cut away the old pod and then make a new mould in GRP and bond it in place. I'm interested as thinking of doing the same thing for my dash, I have gone for a dash-2 from race technology and am not sure it looks right in the marlin supplied binnicle.
Hi David, yes and no! I butchered the marlin dash with the angle grinder not really thinking about it fully at the time if I'm honest! Just did not want under any circumstances the rover dials (and the bungee thingy jobby holding them in)
Anyway it was a lot more work than I expected having not much experience with fiberglass but basically cut of the marlin pinnacle and made a new one which is lower! I new which dials I wanted so could make it to fit them hence the clevage.
The pod which is now complete is (as is) in most sports cars fully removable and a completly separate entity held in place with 4 bolts same as all lotuse's which has proved very handy already connecting all the wires underneath
hope this hepls! I had to make quite a few alterations to the main dash aswell to accomodate the pod and my 4 air vents

Be careful with this. I broke two screens trying to get my capping to fit correctly. (£250 A THROW)
I decided that the mould was way out and actually cut mine into three pieces. I then hacked away the corners and re-moulded with GRP. Perfect
I lopped a small amount off the ends of my capping, and then dropped it straight on - took about an hour to fit. Must be some amusing variation in the dimension of some aspects of the cars / cappings!
