Coolant fluid

What are you guys using? Normal 50/50 mix of coolant / water? Are you using 'BMW brand', or stuff from Halfrauds?

Ta,

I used hellfrauds branded stuff seems to work fine. I used the mixture as recommended on the side of the bottle - can't remember what that was as its been a while :)

BMW coolants not too expensive, I flushed my daily driver at the weekend. That was a 1:2 ratio for -20. 1:1 for -40.

I used distilled water.

I use Halfords best brew mixed 50:50 with tap water.

It's probably more advanced than BMW used 19 years ago!

That's what I plumped for as well, when I called in on the way home from work.

After a flush out, and a leak check, I filled her up with pink gunk. There's some wicked air locks in there though... She's only had 4 litres of coolant and a dash of water. I guess I'm going to have to wait and run the engine and bleed it properly to get the rest in.

Looking great, Jason.

You must be close to starting up that ol' engine soon?

Have you decided on an exhaust system yet?

Yeah, getting close. I need to start wiring up so I can try and get the engine started. I bought a CBS wiring module to help with the task - but It's a little daunting... I've been trying to work out what the minimum is to get it working, just so I can ensure that after 18 months of sitting idle, it all still works.

I may be asking a lot of questions in the near future! :D

I'm going to go for the Marlin side pipes. It's expensive, but it is stainless, and I like the look. That's why I've been trying to keep the areas in the engine bay where the pipes exit the bodywork clear.
