Umm think I may have the wrong radiator. Was planning on using the one from my donor (1.6 rover 25) as its almost brand new (pictured below).

However when I offered it up to the chassis it doesnt appear wide enough also the pipes appear different e.g the top one seems the same but the lower one comes out the side rather than the rear.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas what rad is needed.

Yep - that's the wrong one.

I have a radiator designed to fit a 1.8 vvc WITHOUT air conditioning.

It's a "special Rover radiator" so I'm told with these measurements.

Thanks, yeah I've just been and measured and the centres are 595 apart on the bottom mounts looks like the rad on ebay is no use.

Can you remember how much your rad was roughly?

It was £45-£50 if I remember correctly.

When ordering, go through the measurements to make sure it's the right one. When I ordered originally, I got the wrong one.

Thanks that sounds reasonable. I have emailed them with the picture as I can't find an exact match on their website, the nearest was the RG302 which was 590 between the bottom mounts, which may well be tweakable looking at the tolerance on the mounts but obviously I would prefer to get the precise fit.

Been and re-measured the chassis mounts, I recon it will fit but be tight at 590 spacing what I may need to do is fettle the bottom plastic mounts by a mil or two to fit if necessary.

John (limpabit) I dont suppose you have the part number of the one that wasnt a RG302 from adrad? otherwise i guess I may just have to take the leap and get one and bodge the mount if necessary its certainly a better fit than my current one which is about 100mm out. and I feel buying for approx £50 and bodging is better than about £110 for the one the options list.

Mine was £55 and the correct one. Just try a local motorfactor, go through the catalogue and get the correct one ordered.

Whilst perfecting the bodgery artform is a necessary evil to complete the build, I wouldn’t bother starting with the radiator – they’ll be many chances to bodge later on!

I phoned up after I got the wrong one (the part number above) and spoke to Kevin (above).

Don't have the part number. Kevin had to do a bit of searching in the catalogue to get the correct one.

Don't need to "adjust" at this stage of the build. Just need to get correct rad, which is easier said than done!

I would phone them up and speak to them. See if they have me on there system. I'll PM you my details.

David, I purchased the one one the link which was posted by John! aaron radiators part number 2AU143 and it fits fine is was about 3mm out which just needed a push to get in and is very snug (only took ten seconds to get in) but I know some have bought this I think and could not fit it!

Just take the image John has provided, to a motorfactor, and order one in. It really is as easy as that - the correct radiator is not hard to obtain.

Yes it is stupid that getting the correct radiator isn't a simple case of presenting a part number to a supplier, but when I asked Terry for the part number early in my build I was told "we'd rather sell you one, than give you the part number".

Rang the guys at Adrad yesterday afternoon with Johns details, they went and got a RG302 off the shelf and measured it and it was 594 between the bottom pins :-) they recon the mold has been updated. So I ordered on teh spot for £46 inc vat and delivery, and its now in my garage, a quick test and it fits perfectly.

Orered the larger RG302 on Tuesday, it arrived on Wednesday and I fitted it today.
