The Budget - Car Tax & Kit Cars

Guys,

We've all seen what Captain Darling has decided to do with Car Tax, but what does this mean to a kit car builder? All the changes are based on the date of registration, so new cars pay the new prices - but when I get my car through SVA and on the road, what will be deemed the date of reg?

My donor was first registered in '86 - does that mean I pay pre 2001 figures, or will I (even though I'm aiming for an age related plate) have to pay the new rates as the kit car will have been registered now (or in the not too distant future)?

It will be pre 2001 tax for us! So normal over 1595cc (or whatever the figure is) :)
