and they will insure me on a locost for 768 pounds a year right now. so even cheaper when its finished.

Thats a locost with a escort rs turbo engine btw.

So this means that i am going to be getting my mk1 escort donor car soon and pillaging it of all the parts needed.

Look forward to hearing how you get on - and seeing it when finished.

well next stage is to get a welder and get some practice in before i even attempt a chassis.

I aint done much this serious before.

Are you looking to make the chassis from scratch?

There are lots of places that will sell one to you for reasonable money.

i have seen that. lugeo (i think) advertise them for under 500 quid and there powder coated. It is an idea im looking into but then id still need to buy wishbones, roll bars and all the other stuff to go with it where if i had my own welder i would be able to make everything.

something to look into, im going to sit down and calculate the rough costs all ways (i know things never go to plan tho) and see which is more beneficial.

Rob

Check out Luego, Robin Hood and MK.

They all have websites and all sell 'locost' parts.

It'll probably be cheaper to buy a chassis and wishbones than a welder, the metal and getting 'em powder coated.

If you are going the 'locost' route, you'll probably end up needing the welder at some time though, but there is a lot to building your own chassis especially the design.

yes thats very true. plus if i buy one its tested when i get it. dont have to worry about the quality of my welding on the structural part of the car.
