I have reached the penultimate stage of fitting my top bonnets and I have a couple of questions for those "experts" than have already done it ;-)
Did you allow the flange on the side of the top bonnet to touch (rest on) the flange on the vertical bonnet side. I am tempted to leave a gap, say 2mm, else I guess any paint along here won't last long.
What about bonnet stays - any good idea's. It's no good us all having shiny engines if we can't leave the bonnets open for everyone to see!

Hi Robin, I didn't deliberately leave a gap, but have some self adhesive foam strip to stick on at some stage. I wanted that to be in compression.
But now I've fitted the rubber U channel I have a gap anyway.
I haven't looked for bonnet stays so let us all know if you turn up something suitable.

I cut and shaped mine so there wouldn't be a gap but once the catches were in place I ended up with a bit of a gap. (I also managed to cut the wrong side of the line on the passenger side so that gap is a tiny bit bigger there- definite "oh bollox" moment.)
