GRIFFON KITCAR

Has anyone heard of a Griffon? I've just acquired one but struggling to get any info. What I do know is they were manucatured in late 70's or early 80's and were based on a Vauxhall Magnum.

Very similar in style to the Merlin TF if I recall.

I believe it was more like the early 90's (late 80's maybe) when they were made.

I'll see if I can dig out any information on them. Was there anything specific you wanted to know?

Cheers, John

GRIFFON KITCAR

Thanks for that John, I was beginning to think I was the only one who'd heard of them. It looks 70's though, because its painted 70's purple colour and I'm sure I hadn't had sex yet when they were being produced... Maybe I was just a late starter. It looks like a Morgan. I need to get as much info as possible as it's a non runner. It gets delivered tonight so I may have more specific requests for info over the weekend!

Griffon

I always wanted one of these after driving the demonstrator at Newark more years ago than I care to remember.
Based in Nottingham and model was based on the Vauxhall Viva HC or Magnum.
I do think that towards the end they tried some kits based on the Cortina drive train but kept the Vauxhall suspension set up.
I think that it was brought out to compete with the Spartan and from what I remember the quality was better.
