Thought I would share with you what has been going on with the car over the last few months.
At the end of August I ordered our Big Brake Kit which set us back a few pounds to say the least, but they look good and work very well. This ment the front end basically had to come off, sus arms, uprights, wheels etc and I took it up to Birmingham. 10days later I was back up there to collect them and pay the bill.
That evening they were bolted together and fitted to the car as it was going to the wieght and damper measurements taken. After all the work of moving the engine around everyone was saying the front would be too light, but seems it was a 41/59 front/rear split I thought that was good for a car that had been 'played with' so much.
Once the car was back in my garage it was time to sort a few things out paperwork wise which was good as they needed doing. Total amount spent so far being one.
The following week Caged contacted me after waiting for a return call 2 weeks ago to discuss and answer a few questions about the 'Race Roll Cage'.
After I sent him a few pictures of the cage and told him the car it was dicided quite quickly that he would make us a new one that was MSA Sports Race Car Regs. So as they are busy it is booked in for the begining of November to have that made.
Only thing that was left to do was now strip the car of every possible pannel and engine for east access and so they can make up new mount plates as well. After this has been done it will go from caged to have the new dampers fitted etc and then it will be back around christmas ready to have the Body Work modified a little.
I am still aiming to have the car at the Castle Combe Performance Car Action Day in April but it is looking a little tight to say the least. I will get a few pics up as well sortly.

Will be racing in the Castle Combe Special GT Championship, In Class D, the same as Mark & Dylan do at the moment, so will be up against the 360's, RX7's, M3's, Caterams, etc.
On paper and in theroy I know where our car will be on the grid but there is a human input needed to get it there, so time will tell.
Jon, some very good pics and as we were talking at lladlow they are the same wheels I will have soon with track tyres on for next year.

ps Don't you have your discs on the wrong way around?
Craig if you pm me the details I could get a price for you, they will come without tyres but will more than likely be cheaper including delivery than anywhere else.
The rotors look wrong but thats the way they work according to AP.

They do stop well and the only way i can lock them up is by jumping onto them, but only time will tell once its out on track, as the rear may be done the same way but with 4pot rather than 6.
Im trying to see if anyone can help me, it was but 12months ago whe i collected the kit with Nick we were building had budgetted for a B16 on twin 40 webbers, to race in the 750MC. Me being me, decided that that wasn't quick enough when I saw caslte combe gt's and the went to the K20 route, but me being a twat didnt stop there, and wanted bigger and better things. I cut off at some points but not others. So a year on the budget has doubled to what we had planned to do but I do have a car that is to a dream spec to many people. I want the car finished in a curtain way as I have spent so long and hundreds of hours gettin it this far, with running the honda hubs all round, its doesn't sound that difficult but trying to get it to all match up, most of you know what it takes.
The fact that there is still 10k to spend on the car in less than 6 months with hardly anything coming into fund it is pushing me over the limit.
I dont want to see the car sell because I have dedicated my half of the build to my best mates who got killed recently in a car crash that had helped me build it when i first bought it. so it has memories which i dont want to loose, but without sponsorship or another team mate coming in and buying Nick out. It cant be done untill the April 2009 which is pointless.
I may turn it into a trackday car and use it on the road and show it and make it look good.
I wouldn't get nothing for it at its current state it would have to be finished to the spec of the new owner at his cost but atleast it would be something back.
Ill keep you posted if it does have to be sold but hopfully ill be able to keep it.
Bloody hell Jon, what a situation. Sorry to hear about your troubles mate, especially losing your friends. That's pretty tough.
As far as the car goes, I think everyone on here knows what a money pit they can turn into. I ended up compromising on various things in order to get it on the road without completely cleaning me out. It's always possible to keep spending towards your "dream spec" (step forward Craig!).
If you bought it because you wanted to race, would it not be better to get it driveable ASAP for minimum spend, even if this means it not being to your ideal spec? If your bank manager's looking serious then this might mean painful steps like selling those pimp brakes and so on and running cheaper bits for a season. There's always development to do as you go along - you can't expect it to be perfect from day 1! It depends what you want from it I guess, but if I were you I'd be gutted to have to sell it before I got to race it.
The problem is there is no cheap way to finish it off, ive gone so far with it, I dont want to make it look cheap just to get it out there, work with some numbers moving about untill 2am as I was detirmined to make it work. Ive got two mates that are thinking about racing, but dont want to sell my drive to them as thats the whole point.
If it can be done by April, it will be done, if it means I cant afford to race it for a couple of races and only do trackdays well I pay my parents off then so be it.

After spending every minute I had over the last few nights and weekend, I have somehow managed to get to the end of working out if JNRacing can conplete the car on the funds left without taking shortcuts.
Well it is going to be very tight but with a lot of hard work a 3rd job, and not buying a car untill April, it can be done and hopefully will be done for the Performance Car Action Day @ Caslte Combe on April 19th (TBC).
At the least the car will look finished, but it should also be out on track doing a few demostration runs.
