I have just started working on the doors (Mechanics now 99.9% finished wo ho). Can anyone tell me what is the best method for flattening off the welds?
I used a Balck and Decker power file but I used many sanding belts and it took a long time. Plus a hand sanding block and wet&dry paper. Not a very good finish though.

I thought about using filler in some places where Marlin have managed to get one of the folds out of line - but I am a bit worried about what will happen to the filler every time you slam (shut) the door. I can see the filler falling out....

That's what I have been trying but a bit like hard work.
Another question for those door experts ;-) How on earth do you get the nut on the bolt that holds the lock - the one that fits from the back (narrow) side of the door and is very close to the body of the lock itself. Short of grinding the side off a socket I can't see how it can be done.

Ah yes, I remember those little b....ers.
I glued the nyloc nuts on the back of the lock with some dabs of epoxy resin. (with the lock out of the door)
The glue is only there to hold the nylocs in place while you tighten the screws. Worked a treat on mine.
When I asked Kevin from the factory about filling the doors, he said they left all that kind of preparation to their painter.
