I'm going out to the garage tonight to put the engine loom back on. Obviously the ecu connector will need to be routed into the cockpit via a hole cut in the chassis somewhere.
Straw poll time - where's the best place to do this? I can't really make out how you chaps have done it in your pics, but I'm guessing that the majority of you have done it to the left of the battery compartment (as looking back from the radiator toward the rear of the car)

Mine is routed through as you suggested. The ECU is mounted on the offside top of the drivers footwell.

I think there are as many ways to do it as there are builders - but I found this worked well for me!

my main loom, that goes to the ECU, goes under the brake/clutch fluid reservoir and through the bulkhead just next to the battery (so a bit further back than Robins) and then turns right behind the heater on to the ECU that is mounted horizontally above the passenger's feet. It's tucked right up out the way and I mounted it on some long bolts and spacers so that it's metal face is down and the connector is to the front. Basically because the loom was this long and I didn't want to cut it! The other spur that has the ignition, fuel pump and instument cables, etc goes through the bulkhead just below my coolant reservoir.

Thanks for the advice - I didn't get into the garage at all last night. I had to don my network engineers cap as the other half was in a flap over eBay auctions and the fact our network decided to throw a fit...
No chance tonight either - I'm going to the Power Night at Silverstone. At least that's a petrol-head night out.
It's just a hi tech bit of blue plastic sheet from my "that'll come in handy one day" stock in my garage. I think it came from IKEA for lining kitchen drawers or something mundane like that.
I'm not expecting any acid spills from my sealed Bosch battery
