Hi guys.

As expected, the car failed. But only due to me being silly.

Main problems was brake pipes & loom not secure enough, brake pipes secure to chasis using cable ties. The guy wanted "p" clips and insulation between chassis and securing device. This is going to be a pain as it is mainly the rear bulkhead with very little room.

The "U" bolt on the steering rack did not have enough thread through the nylock. Need a bigger exhaust clamp.

Door lock did not reach stage 2 of closing. Just need packing out the locks.

No anti slip on pedals. I had the Marlin modified pedals. Just need to get hold of the pedal covers.

Kicking myself on this one. Been toying with the wheels due to rear sticking out a bit. But after jiggling the wheels about, ended up with a 185's on one of the front wheels (rears passed ok). I borrowed two 185 from my local breakers yard and must have given him back the wrong wheel. Easy one get wheel back from knackers yard.

Overall, not as bad as I thought.

And I need to get rid of that dump valve. 80 miles of hissing (as it's just touching throttle at 70), was driving my crazy.

That's pretty short list, you should be well pleased.

Can you eloborate more on what the examiner meant by insulation between the p clip and the chassis. I've never heard of that one? Or did he mean rubber insulated P clips?

They seem to be really hot on the number of threads showing out of a nyloc nut. I've seen a number of failure reports with that one.

Something for all of us to check, regardless of what we are buliding!

Hi Peter.

No it was not a problem with "p" clips. I went crazy with the cable ties. I tied the brake pipes to the chassis with no insulation between. Rubber "p" clips would have been fine. The fact I had no insulation and cable tied them, is what I did wrong. He was ok just with cable tieing to the suspension as he did not recommend drilling a hole in the moving suspension parts.

Really pleased with what it failed on.
