Has anyone got any pictures of the windscreen mounting under the scuttle?

I'm currently fitting my loom, fuses, relays, etc and I don't want to have to re-do it when (if?) I fit a windscreen. Can't find anything in the 'build' manual?

As I remember there are a couple of flat plates, one on each side of the car, welded to the same crossmember that supports the steering column. The windscreen is supplied with some brackets that mount on theses plates. Sorry no pics - I have the windscreen but fitting it is a long time away for me yet.

Ah ha, you mean that plate I was going to mount my fuse box to! I did wonder what they were there for, thanks.

Anybody else got a picture of a windscreen fitted?
Cutting the slots in the right place looks tricky.

I did the slot cutting today (sorry no pics yet). The written instructions that came with the screen were actual not bad for slot cutting. It was relatively easy to mark and cut the holes in the right place.

Not figured out the bolting yet as I was only out in the garage for an hour!

I have my screen fitted i will try and get some photos for you tomorrow. Dont forget its not only the screen brackets that may get in the way you also have to mount the windscreen wiper motor up under the dash to.

This is as far as we got this weekend, I fell asleep on the sofa twice so we didn't get very far

To fit the windscreen you'll need some masking tape a pencil, rule and maybe a tape measure!

Put some tape down and mark a centre line on the scuttle - I used the bonnet hinge and my guide which was previous painstakingly placed in the middle!

Place the ali cover that goes under the screen on the scuttle measuring 130mm back from the scuttle edge (back edge inside car) on both sides. Also mark 60mm back.

Mark 7mm out from the metal edge - this creates a slot shop that the windscreen sides can drop into. Got to be careful that the holes are parallel with the edges of the screen!

Drill a series of holes inside the marked area, cut and file them out. Now you can drop the screen to test fit!

Stainless plates do a good job of covering holes chopped into the scuttle.

With the screen pulled back the metal of the screen frame pretty much touches the scuttle

Screen should provide a decent amount of wind protection. Side screen may still need to be fitted!

The driver side - the bottom hole just bolts in with a spacer, not sure yet how the top bolts in yet as the brackets have a huge bend in them that don't seem to line up with anything.

The ali panel under the screen is not the right shape but once the rubber strip is added it almost fills the gaps - some filling work will be need to make it fit better.
All we need now are some wishbones!

...and a steering rack....

and some mud guard stays!

The weather is really starting to warm a bit at the moment, I just want to get back on the road!

Whilst the forum is on the loose subject of keeping the occupants dry and warm (lol) has anyone seen the new hood and side screens that marlin have been working on? I was hoping for something with rigid side screens like on a Morgan.

Or perhaps I am living in cloud cuckoo land...

I've been eyeing up small convertibles so see if I can see a suitable roof size / design but I think owners might get a bit twitchy if I start eye up their cars with a tape measure!

Some photos of the under scuttle mountings hope you can work out the fixings. I hade to add some spacers between the black bracket and the windscreen upright to get a good fit.
Also you need to seal around the windscreen uprights that come through the slot you cut as your car will get very wet inside if you dont

Very difficult to adapt a design from another car methinks. I bought the hood sticks from Marlin - when I bought the main kit. The plan was to make my own rigid sidescreens and then get a coach trimmer to make a hood and cover the sidescreens to match. Mind you at the cirrent rate of progress that's still some time away...

The extra bracket that creates the triangle that needs two nuts worth of spacer, I think a different solution needs to be implemented here! A piece of steel as thick as the windscreen posts behind bolted to the same place would probably be about right.

How strange?

Maybe the bottom bolt should be spaced futher away from he body?

Installation is the same as Stuarts, maybe the bend in my bracket is bigger than on it his, or the scuttle spacing is different - its a bit odd! The other side looks like it will be similar. No matter I'll come up with something

EDIT: bottom bolt can't move much as it would start to bend the frame the screen is held in.

I had any email from Terry on other stuff but I also asked about the weather gear, simple answer is they've not had time! So maybe a while yet.

The space between your brackets looks a little excessive. Only thing i can suggest is to straighten your bracket a small amount to increase the angles this should then not stand off so far and require less spacers.

I don't want to bend the brackets as they may loose strength. I'm going to drop by metal supermarket at the weekend see if they have any odds and ends that might work - I'm thinking go the other side of the windscreen mount and go straight down to the scuttle mount - that way the bracket would be complete straight
