Don't know if this site will help you, looks like you have to do a VIC (vehicle identity check) by the DVLA and they tell you if it needs an ESVA. Almost certainly, as they are only another one of Gordons Agencies of Extraction.
BTW. The SVA inspectors are only private companies (subbies) working for the government, as are MOT stations. They are not VOSA or DVLA.

Yes the sva form is downloadable from [url]www.vosa.gov.uk[/url] follow link to forms, you need the SVA1 form, To book your test you need to send you completed application form to Swansea, address is on the form, along with your fee,
You wont get the donor reg if you haven't used the chassis of the donor car in your build and to get a build up inspection booked contact your local DVLA office and arrange an appointment. HTH

SVA testers are APPROVED by V.O.S.A. (formally vehicle inspectorate)
Although they love you to think that way (gives them power )
They are employed by private limited companies contracted to VOSA
F*****g mouse pads, sorry DJH message should read "I didn't say it was a load of b*****ks" but I do know which organisation I work for.

That's changed a lot then. I'm building the 5EXI with what I thought was the intention on using the donor reg. I thought that two major components (say engine and gearbox) was all that was needed. Not the donor chassis.

That's what I've read everywhere. 2 major components from the donor to keep the plate, there's a specific list of items such as engine, gearbox, axles etc.
Hi all,
I'm only going by the experience I had at Notts, I was issued with the donor reg number, and when the log book came it stated the original MGB as the make of vehicle. When I returned it explaining the error, they told me I will be, and have been, issued with an age related number as I hadn't used the original chassis even though I had used everything else including engine, gearbox, front axle, rear axle, instruments, wipers etc etc.
They perhaps have different rules in different areas, who know's

I have registered my marlin 5exi using donor log book as proof of age of parts and was issued with age related number. My log book states vehicle as Marlin 5exi. I thought kit cars that were previously resistered with donor log book descriptions were no longer legal?
