How many current and potential builders are there?
If there was a wider body available (GT Body) for the 5exi-R and it was proven that 17” rims could be fitted to the car on 5 Stud Hubs, would anyone be interested?
I also would have gone for the wide body as thats one area that makes a roadster look more agressive!
I would be interested at a leter date when car complete and I think that the rear clam is the only part needed wider as I would still run 16" on the front anyway
This is an area that I am considering when I get mine sprayed as it is getting sprayed (hopefully) at a fiberglass specialist and would not cost that much to have the arches widened
Well great to see some early interest, we are currently designing a complete body, which will be on our race car as we have changed it in a few areas, but we are thinking of making it avaiable to fitted any exi-r, so that existing owners can buy just a front or rear panel and stick it on.
I'd be interested to now what sort of price they are looking to charge to extened the arches, as the qutoes we ar getting at present are a long way into the thousands. Our car will be at Llandow with GT Body fitted to it, just may not be on the track.

Well ive jsut had a call from out body shop to say it might be finished but not sure, so still touch and go, Llandow is Saturday 7th July, Marlin Open Trackday,
To accomodate 17" wheels you only need extend by about 1" I have 7x 16" and most 17" wheels are only 7.5x 17" which is only 1/2" wider and you can even get many 7x 17"
Last summer Brian who has a turbo model ran 17" wheels on the back and they did not rub, granted it was tight that is why I think an inch would do it..
Sadly i dont think our's will be anything that little, as we are running 7.5 x7" on front and 9 x17" on the rear, our car is a fair bit wider as we have a very small offset on the rear to get the clearance with the 9" wide rims and to get the car to handle better the front has come out as well to match up with the back. Our car will be around 6ft wide and the arches with wheels will stick out about 4-5" possibly even as much at 6", but we will not no for sure until the car comes back and the wheels go on. With the road cars they have about 150mm ground clearance not sure, we will have 50mm so the wheels will be close to sticking out the top of the body.
Like ive said before our EXi-R is not normal in anyway.
