Dear All,
As some of you may be aware Nick & I are using a Marlin 5EXi-R to race in 2008/2009. If you were one of the lucky people to view my personal web page, JNRacing.bebo.com, then you would have seen that our 5EXi-R is a little different to the normal road going version. One main difference is that we have a race chassis so some things are in different places and fitted in different ways. The major difference with our car (without saying too much at this stage) is the location of the engine.
We have moved it back by a small margin to allow us to run straight drive shafts. The Main reason for doing all this extra work and spending hours in the cold garage is so that we can run a complete Honda Civic Type R power plant all the way to the hubs. This helps on cost, utilizes more of the Honda parts and saves having to modify drive shafts.
Our car is currently at Marlin having the engine wired in and body fitted and should hopefully be back with us mid to end of March. Once we have it back with us our website will be updated with pictures of the modifications for you all to see.
Marlin may look into reviewing the current location of the engine on the road version sometime in the future and anybody interested should contact Terry at Marlin direct.
Cheers
Jon
