It wasn't very difficult just took a lot of time to get the parts to separate. Did you like the rear axle stand? I only have two axle stands which I want to use at the front end, so my friend Duncan took his chainsaw to a tree he had lying around in the garden and cut a chunk off it to hold up the back end. I have to say it also doubles as a coffee table and tool bench while I'm working on the car!
Your car is coming along nicely with the grille etc. I like the higher profile that you have with the aerodynamics behind the headrest. Where did you get that from? I'm hoping to get the diff off tomorrow morning before the rain arrives. Fingers crossed as the forecast is for rain until at least Thursday up here.

Car Photographer - I hope you get the rear arch mountings sorted.

And just remember the grille isn't "wonky", it is "hand crafted".

Finally got her home again today, so tomorrow fingers crossed I'll be heading to a car show at Ragley hall

I hope you are going to take some photos! Did you take photos of the "new" mudguard supports? I'd be very interested to see how they are made. I'm still waiting for my kit to arrive - the body won't be ready until 24th of June and then it can be collected. I've bought lots of bits to rebuild the front and rear suspension so once I have de-rusted everything I can get started on that and I'll post more photos on my thread. So, yes - it made it to the Ragley Hall show on Sunday - It seemed to get a fair bit of interest - I even met someone who said he had one too!

I haven't really got any pics - basically the rear arch is attached to 2 metal tabs that are welded to the rear brake drum plate - the welds on mine were only really tack welded on, and so kept snapping off as you went over potholes etc.
my mechanic friend has now welded them alot stronger (hopefully) so with any luck they will stay on now.

I got a part sand blasted the other day - guy charged me £5 to blast one part - it might be worth you shopping around for people that do this - the result was amazing!!

Hi Paul. It looks like you had a good day out and that the weather was very kind to you. I hope it's as good for me this coming Sunday as it's the Jaguar Forum's drive out to the Grouse Whisky distillery in Crieff and I'll be going in my S Type XS. You are right about the cost of sand blasting. I have another place to ask for a price, hopefully he will be a bit more realistic than the others. If not, I may buy a blaster kit and some grit and have a go myself - but it is a really filthy job to do a complete chassis. It would also be useful to have for doing other bits on the Fiorano and my motorbike. Your car is looking good, did the paint finally dry out enough so you could give it a good rub down?

Bloody nice looking car Paul.great colour too - really suits it.

Yeah I did rub it down and repaint - it's better, but I think I'll need to do it another couple of times in the future to get it looking perfect.

Yes I reckon a sandblasting kit might be the answer if you want a proper rust removal

There was a dark green one for sale in last week's Classic Car Weekly, cheekily entered under Ferrari, priced at £14,995.

Love that lowlight look on them. The one that sets off the red/burgundy paint is the killer capture though.

They are both neat, but I think the understated black looks much more 40s and 50s, and I'd opt for it for that reason.
