Agreed ...I like some of your touches on this car , the MGF rims are a nice change from wires , the faded roundalls , seperate cill panels , little bit edgey on the paint etc...it's no secret I like a 'weathered' car and this one is looking like its been around a while rather than a recent build ...so well done Jerome ...
Thanks! The 'weathered' look is what we always wanted, so its a great compliment
Our philosophy with the car has always been that it looks like a cool (low budget :loco 60's rebodied Triumph instead of a 'replica' of a real sportscar. Nothing more, nothing less. Our interior is also very basic, with lots of alloy which gives the 'oldschool racecar' feeling.
We're very happy with the result, finally we can drive this summer. So much fun!
Very nice car indeed. I like the wheels you have used and the bigger screen looks good too. I also like the colour of the car.
Can you tell me how did you fabricate the wheel spinners caps for the wheels and how are they attached to the wheels please? Do you have any fabrication photos maybe?

The spinners are French,I found them on a auto jumble .
They,re called Robergel and we,re fitted on Citroen- and Peugeot hub caps.
They,re simply bolt on so I had made a steel rim and a round plate for each wheel.
The rim is welded in the wheel and the plate ,whit the spinner bolted on,is bolted on the rim.
Only thing is you,ve to unbolt all 8 small bolts every time the wheel has to be removedhwell:hwell:hwell:

Do all the Sammio,s get so terrible hot in the footwells?
Last time I drove the car with ca.degrees outside and I nearly melted in the car!
Engine temperature looks normal but heat comes trough the bulkhead.
Thank you for your reply, I will have to try to do something similar and try to fit my spinners if I can. Enjoy the drive and I guess it is better to be warm than cold. ;-)
Toke out the Sammio to the"zandvoort circuit" for classic carshow and circuit races.
The first time i went this far ..about 180 mile and nearly all on the highway.
A nice temperature but a firm wind,it blew my cap away
All went well altough temperature in the car was rising!
I enjoyed the races and the variation of cars.
On the way back i had full wind in front which was very windy and due to this circulation temperature in the car was sauna like
I was reading your build pages again and, If you still read this forum, I would like to ask you a few more questions please, if that's ok.
1- you painted your car with a roller and I would like to do it too, as your car looks great. Beside filling and sanding preparation work, what kind of primer paint and other preparation you have used before painting the car with the top coat? How many layers of the top coat you have applied? Did you sanded in between the layers?
2 - what kind/type of the paint did you use?
3 - did you have any problems with bubbles using a roller?
4 - I really liked the colour of your wheels before you have painted them white. Which type of paint you have used and which shade of gray it was please?

I used a undercoat used on poly boats called Epifanes,you can use it with a roller and its filling and easy to sand.
I used 2/3 layers Epifanes and a 1K truckpaint mixed in a new Fiat 500 colour.
I experimented with several expensive rollers and ended with a normal foam roller.
Between the several layers of truckpaint i always sanded with wet 800/1200
paper.
I am still happy with the result,note that i used a mat paint which looks older
and more even.
Very important is to heat the whole tub(with a paintdryer) to avoid enclosed airblisters before you start painting,I found a whole lot and missed some which came out in the sun embarassed:
The first time I painted the wheels with a simple rattlecan in a sort off bronze
from a consstructionmarket,personally I like the old english white wheels!
As you can also read in the posts from Paul L when you are busy painting you will see every scratch and bubble,when you,re driving it everybody likes the result!
