Geoff's 250 SWB Replica Build

8 Jul 2017, 7:01pm
I used one of those large silicone flexi builders buckets to make inner arches on my gto as they are already almost the shape. And I managed to get 2 arches out of one bucket. They are only about £8 or something

Nice one.

That looks excellent!

And an interesting state of affairs as an alternative to the Nubodi one. You now have choice of either California or GT style dash - got to be a good thing!

Is there an official price for this yet?

Last picture, upper right hand corner, what is it? Anyone recognise it? Answers on a postcard please.

Dash looks absolutely fantastic, amazing what he can do when he puts his mind to it! I personally think his parents left him watching Blue Peter too much, all that stickn & gluen with sticky back plastic.

I do like the fact that the original dash has been used so the original demist vents are still present, nothing worse than a car that mists up. It should also mean that it fits very well.

Good afternoon i have been working away all week , but i was aware that a large parcel had turned up from Tribute , any way i have just got home to find a huge amount of cardboard and tape around a dash shaped object , i can only assume that Chris has started employing somebody new to wrap his parcels as this was really well done! thanks Chris .

Just need to persuade Jeff to visit his mum up north with some filler and a spray gun , Geoff .

From the photos, I take it that the new dash sits on top of the old one once the 2 curved sections have been removed.
Will it fit with the centre console still in place?
Does it still have similar dimensions at the ends so it still lines up with the original door cards?

Its got to be a good sign when your cat sits on your dash , Geoff .

Evening Steve yes the two curved sections need removing plus a section in the centre , not sure ref the centre console as i no longer have one and will be using something more appropriate , i have different door cards in my car so can not answer your last question , if you can hold on till tomorrow i will get the MDF dash on EBAY  Geoff .

Good evening everything was going really well until i had a Paul moment , i was spraying my new dash on the patio with the dash sat on top of the Workmate , i had sprayed about 6 separate coats with not a great deal left in the can when i decided to move the position of the Workmate slightly , the final coat was sprayed on turned around to put the can down and the dash fell off the workmate the final coat was still wet so the dash was now marked :fear: not easy to see in the photo ,

there are couple of marks on the edge just above the 5 holes for the small dials ,these marks were rubbed down with wet and dry and now need spraying , so i have ordered another can of this

Have you ever tried flocking? Can be done at home too.

Oi!

I resemble that remark.

:icon_wink:

Anyway, it could have been worse, at least it wasn't knocked of the workmate by a flying gazebo.

Good luck fixing it, Paul. :)
