Sorry I do not mean to hi-jack this forum, all our work is on the Tribute forum. We are the build agent for Tribute.
I have spoken to Brian on several occasions and I am in awe of the quality of his GRP. I believe his prices are justified as the development that goes into these kits are immense. There is room in this industry for all types of kits.
Top of the pile is DNA but reassuringly expensive.
Tribute produce more varied models and much faster. They need more sanding and fettling but are cheap.
Choice is a great thing.
Thank you for your kind comments Richard....Ive always loved the classic models. The idea for the z3 250 cal was originally conceived in 2008 but demand pushed us to make newer cars. Now I think it's time to create some cars on 'my' wish list !...cheers Brian DNA

Its nice to get credit where it's due.
Since our first prototype of the convertible 250 SWB (see red Kalifornia, earlier in the thread) I'm too hooked on the classics too. The red Kalifornia is my daily driver (for 8 months of the year at least) I have a 308, two Daytonas and a Testarossa convertible. Some real but to be honest I enjoy the replicas as much and I'm not as worried when they are parked.
I am in contact regularly with Del, we keep up to date with developments on DNA and I tell him about Tribute models.
Look forward to building this new California and whats in the future.

How expensive is this paint /Litre? I realise there may be (say) £100 for w&d, tack rags, panel wipe etc (it soon adds up).
Decent base coat like Standox is £70.00 per litre, 5ltrs of good Laquer is around £100, again for good quality stuff.
A box of hookit strips are around £50.00, Da discs are anything from £12.00 up to £30.00 a box depending on quality, anything with 3M printed on the box is expensive, but it is good quality.
It does add up, I and most of the body shop owners that I know average a grand for paint and consumables on a re-paint.
You can get away with it being a bit cheaper if it is a small car, but don't forget we have to pay to get rid of the waste now £50.00 most months to empty the bin.
To get the certificate to say the waste thinners has been removed and recycled cost £20.00 per drum plus Vat, the minimum they will take is 250 ltrs.
I certainly do not work for Burger King money, Jobs do go wrong from time to time (Ask Nubodi) so you may have to re do a couple of panels now and then.
If a body shop is not making a profit they wont be in business for long.
For the most part I do enjoy what i do for a living, being your own boss and deciding the hours you want to do is ok i guess, I do turn lots of work away because it can't or I wont do it for the budget the customer has in mind.
It is looking great, I've always loved the restrained styling of this model. How do you do the chroming? The bumpers look like fibreglass. Do you somehow have these chromed? or get metal copies made? Or cast in bronze or aluminium or...?? Always wondered and would like to make bumpers and other chrome bits for my one-off designed car too.
My car is finished now, just a couple of bits to be put on , then it a polish and grand unveiling at stoneleigh , might not be any photos now till stoneleigh
