Good advice, think what I was trying to say is knowlege is power, and these days there is no excuse as the information is there if you look, and I confess this is not my first build as in 1993, after owning a clutch of Landrovers, I bought a 1982 Citeron Dianne, and cut the body off it to make an off road buggy, my efforts stopped when I realsed the chassie was made from metal about as thick as a baked bean tin, it got scrapped for £30 and only cost me £50 but I had days of fun cutting it up with an angle grinder, with eye protection of course.

Not sure if more than one old Landy is called a clutch but it seems right as when it goes (which is enevitable) the gearbox has to come out via the cab, so you have to rip out all the sound proofing seats, carpeats, cubby box etc.

Glad to know you're okay John, looks really scary. I'm a bit sad and wear safety glasses for even the most simple jobs. My son wanted to flare the wheel arches and got a splinter of paint in his eye as it cracked off even though I'd asked him to put some safety specs on. You can never be too careful.

Thanks for posting and reminding us all how dangerous things like this can be. My missus looked at picture and said "just as well we're having the convertible", how sympathetic!

Slowed a bit

A few hours on it today. Im delayed in getting my tailpipes and spacers back from the fabby
Also need to get to the shops for some alternative bolts for bonnet hinges and leather straps. Ive sourced a new screen for 30 quid. Tomorrow front lighting to do

Re: bolts if you have a local boat chandlers they should stock stainless steel bolts nuts and screws, I got mine from Sharpe and Ainwright Snargate Street, Dover cost pence but do not rust, important as I will be getting my car painted whit and do not want orange and brown streaks.

It was only a short run though. I sorted the issue on one side for my custom tailpipes. Other side will be sorted tomorrow

I know the feeling. I sanded mine every night from October to march. It was a case of fill sand prime fill sand prime fill sand prime. And now ive sprayed it i have to rub the paint back with 2000 grit. Fun fun fun. Be worth it in the end.

A tribute to Tribute...

OK So maybe an OTR project might not have been the best idea ever...In 3 days of driving and even in its current state Ive been stopped at the petrol station, the shop, the pub and at the train station by petrolhead...'is it a Maserati a Marcos (yuk) a MUIRA?? (seriously) a this a that yhe other...... Its great but when its finished this ISNT going to be a good daily drive unless you have 20 mins spare on each trip. Also I wait til theyve finished and tell them actually its a Mazda MX5 :-).......

Ill caveat that Chris so you know. I do tell em all about Tribute too
