Got mine for a fiver from a show. that HAS to be a misprint?

If not, i only live 1/2 an hr away from the Haynes head office and i may have to pop down and see what i can pick up as an investment :)

You could always pop down to Cheltenham and save yourself £1.99 postage. Bargain.

Spent an hour or so this morning applying some finishing touches to the join between the bottom edges of the bonnet and the ends of the 'sills'.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow once the fibreglass is set, but when I'd plastered on the resin I got changed and went for a run at the gym. About half way through my 5km run I started to get a bit of soreness on the inside of my right thigh. Sh!t happens sometimes and I assumed I'd got a boil that was rubbing. Anyway, when I got home and stripped off for a shower I found that I'd fibreglassed my pants to my leg :( Think I'd better be a bit more careful where I get the resin in future...

Back, sack and crack...

'I found that I'd fibreglassed my pants to my leg...'

You sound surprised.......

It gets everywhere...

In this case I think we can all agree that no photos are required!!

Photos of the car yes, but pants definitely not!

Good luck, Paul. :)

'I found that I'd fibreglassed my pants to my leg...'

Was it fibreglass or had you been watching Phils video clip again!!!!!!!!

Yes, me too. Definitely a blob of fibreglass resin that stuck somewhere awkward when I changed into my Speedo onesie to go running...
1 Mar 2013, 6:45pm
No pics of me in the Speedo onesie i'm afraid, but here's a couple showing the finishing touches to the ends of the sills as promised -

Just needs a bit of filler and a sand down now. I've also done the other side, but that looks somewhat different as the sill curves right under the chassis on that side. It looks neat enough and I doubt anyone outside the Sammio circle will ever notice the difference anyway.

No more actual progress on the car today as I spent the whole day clearing all the accumulated crap out of my garage so I could sweep out the dust in readiness for spraying.

Looking forward to getting some paint on it now the weather's warming up a bit. :icon_cool:

Adding those bits make it look more substantial.
2 Mar 2013, 9:25am
Should be able to fill and sand the joins today. Will post some pictures later.
2 Mar 2013, 7:44pm
First job of the day was to put a bit of filler here and there to get the ends of the sills smooth -

Then gave the inside of the bonnet a coat of Tetroseal -

Plan is to build up a few coats above the wheels to stop stones from chipping through to the fibreglass and knackering the paint.

I also gave the engine a long overdue wash and brush up as it was completely covered in crud from all the sanding -

Much better now.

Looking very smart, look forward to seeing this one done :icon_cool:

All builders seem to have gone a bit quiet lately, myself included.

Anyone planning a shock spring reveal of a finished car? :fish2:
8 Mar 2013, 12:53pm
Well the front of my chassis should be complete tomorrow now my new shiny calipers have arrived so hopefully will be updating my thread with pics tomorrow. had noticed it had gone quiet, all except the new reveal thread!
8 Mar 2013, 12:53pm
You are T.
8 Mar 2013, 12:55pm
I'm only quiet as every time i fix one thing, something else crops up and I'm reluctant to post updates until i have "progress" :(
8 Mar 2013, 1:08pm
I'm close to some new pics, but it is progress on a geological timescale. More of a "spot the difference" than a reveal.
8 Mar 2013, 1:14pm
I was hopeful that it was quiet because people were too busy building to post.

I think recent events haven't helped, there used to be some good friendly banter but recently some of the banter just feels a little more spiteful which is a shame. Maybe Daves idea of a get together at Stoneleigh will help that, I certainly hope to see as many of you there as possible and anybody staying over is welcome to join us for a beer or two.
8 Mar 2013, 1:20pm
Good spot, Gaz. My enthusiasm for the forum has been dented by recent events. I'm sure it will return.
8 Mar 2013, 1:27pm
That's the spirit. I feel a bit better now I know it's not just me that felt a bit flat about the bitching that's been going on.

I also feel a bit better about the timescale of my build having read a post on the Marlin 5exi thread from a chap who's done diddly with his car for the last five years.

I wonder what the record is for the longest time to finish a kit car? Not that I'm aiming to beat it...

sure i read a thread on locostbuilders ages ago about a gent been building for 10 years....theres hope for us yet, btw the tiger GTA were building alongside the cordite has been underway for 2 years...
