What would happen if you removed the fan all together?

The air con would get to about 0 degrees but not minus 3-7 degrees without the fan cooling the air con radiator. This customer really wants AC.

Not surprised - with the limited sliding window opening you'll get cooked at Le Mans! We were popping the doors of the P4 open at every set of traffic lights...

Just wondered because I have aircon, removed the fan to get the bonnet shut and then drove over the fan.

It is thinner than it was but not quite a spinable

The fan was seized on mine so we removed it. It still gets plenty cool enough inside for me, even on the hottest days last summer.

As it's a 250swb coupe it gets pretty warm inside otherwise.

That's what I figured. Most the time I have the roof down on mine anyway, just useful to have aircon keeping the beers chilled in the passenger footwell

You CAN get the Original airco fan working, you just need to place it 3cm more back in...
There are 2 types of fans and we have fitted both types in different cars.

So no need for another fan!

Today we finished the grille. Painted the mounting brackets we made yesterday matt black and they disappear into the background. The area behind the grille was also painted matt black which helps the grille stand out.

We glued on the chrome donkey. We will let it cure over night then remove the holding tape tomorrow.

The new specially ordered mounting bolts with a different seat angle and short head came today (at last) and so we could fit the wheels at last properly. We thoroughly cleaned the inner wheel arches, brakes and shocks. Each was treated to matt black paint. Discs and pads were checked for condition but were not fa off new.

We then bolted on the splined hubs with the new bolts and thread locked them on. Once again such a shame to cover such great engineering craftsmanship!

We coated the splines and the end thread copiously with copper grease.

The chrome spinner was then tightened with the special tool and mallet.

Rear wheel finished looking good.

The gap at the top of the tyres is quite large but due to the type of vehicle it is, just acceptable. It could come down a little in the future but fine for now. We will know more accurately when the other two are fitted and driven for the suspension to settle but that will not be before next Tuesday.

Mat black does do wonders !!

Not much visible progress today. Fitted a replacement seat as the motor was toast. Had a deep breath when it did not work but turned out the motor burning out had tripped the fuse. Fitted the other two wheels. Made a template for the rear script badge as they have 3 prongs and are tricky to get straight. You only have one shot at getting the 3 holes the right size and right place. Normally you can elongated a hole to get something to line up but not with the rear badges as it shows if the hole is too big. It took at least an hour for this seeming easy task!



We must have a good two days to nearly finish this as the next build comes in on Saturday (Ericholms Kalifornia)

Thought you all might like to see progress on the other build. The shell is off again for more work. The hole is cut for the filler panel using a template.

Rollcage is fitted properly now and door locks cut out. Inner boot panel fitted, parcel shelf on, sills on and aligned.

Inner bonnet was bolted to the front clamshell with adjusters and brackets all hidden underneath.

I can't believe you do such good work outside exposed to the wind and rain , it isn't much fun ! Its bad enough going into my cold garage , it takes at least 20 minutes to get warm.

Did you paint the discs black too?

If all the badges have the same mount pins then a solid template should be the answer. Neat work on the cars especially out side, it can't be fun this time of year.
