Surgeon refused to let me have someone film the actual operation :-)

And a pair of 12v batteries for same cost about £35.

So- switch in a second = supercharged

and switch in the third = nitrous

Or a ride-on mower with an expansion chamber (and the blade removed) would be good down at West Quay shopping centre.

I have a temporary ride sorted

Well there was a slight delay while was recovering but have now replaced the inlet manifold and performed a full coolant flush so the car is back on the road

Interesting electrical issue seems to have developed while it has been stood around waiting for me. The lights at the front of the car have decided to gang up and play silly buggers.

Left indicator on = Bright flash on left and dim flash on right
Right indicator on = Bright flash on right and dim flash on left

Side lights on = Side lights on
Side lights on + Left indicator = Bright flash on left and dim flash on right + main beam flashing on both head lights
Side lights on + Left indicator = Bright flash on right and dim flash on left + main beam flashing on both head lights

Head lights on = Main beam plus both indicators on dim
Head lights on Main beam = Main beam plus both indicators on dim

I am guessing there is a short circuit somewhere, possibly some insulation rubbed through.

One for tomorrow I think

All the symptoms of an earthing problem so should be easy and satisfying to sort.

100% earth problem . Check and clean all the main earthing points even if they look clean from where you are looking !

Classic kit car electrical problem.

You can never have an earth connection that is too clean, too well copper-greased or has too many serrated washers.

And the beauty of this is that I was planning on reviewing the wiring when I got the new bonnet anyway.

I want to be able to swap bonnets with four bonnet bolts and a pair of connectors.

It looks like this has just accelerated the process.

I bought a Aston cap for my Kobra and within 2 weeks it had tarnished beyond belief, the company I bought it from sent me some metal polish, it seemed to work for 1 week and then back to tarnished. I sent it back to them, they sent me a new one which they had lacquered for me first. So if you are getting a chrome fuel cap i suggest you lacquer it first, just dont ask me what they used but it seems to have worked.

I had one. It tarnished. I polished it. I sold it to IanA so not sure of it's current condition


Old picture when the car was red, with exposed side sills, not sure which wheel colour was best, side exhausts, old door handles... I had forgotten how many changes I have made over the time

I might try and get the grille in a bit sharpish. The radiator looks a tad exposed

and now with a grill




Need to decide what to do with the bonnet vent. The engine looks a tad visible and prone to water ingress. I shall try to see what others have done


If anyone can post pictures of what they have done I would appreciate it. Can't see anything on the ones I have looked at on the forum.

It gets polished occasionally (Solvol Autosol - by hand) and looks good when done.
However, the roller is chrome plated and that rusts quickly. I have to keep it lightly greased to avoid that.



I've also filed off the sharp edges since this pic was taken- they are now rounded.
