Fatbloke builds a Spyder

[QUOTE=fatbloke;44553]Added the vents into the other side today

Amazing what you can do with the left over bits from a TVR! Looks great.

I agree with Nick, it's almost certainly a RED of some kind.

Stupid question of the day but is 13amp household electrical cable okay for extending the wiring for the lights?
23 Jun 2013, 11:43am
Fine as long as it is multi-strand i.e. not the solid copper conductor. Make sure your joins are good, if possible solder and heatshrink.
23 Jun 2013, 11:53am
Normal household mains cable is single core. This isn't flexible so may snap in a car
23 Jun 2013, 12:31pm
Thanks guys, it was the multi-strand stuff I was thinking of. Time for a bit of soldering...

Made some good progress this weekend. Tail lights re-wired with more appropriate cable and number plate lights fitted.

Indicator/side lights fitted and head lights re-wired.

Windscreen washers fitted.

Wings cut and screwed into place

I like your indicator/sidelight, are they moggy minor ones?
15 Jul 2013, 8:52am
They're certainly Morris replica ones, whether off a Moggy or not I don't know. Need something with side lights as the head lights I got don't have any. The only concern I have is how well hidden the indicators are. Need to put some decent repeaters down on the end of the front wings.

Quick question, are you guys fitting the mesh into the various vents before or after painting?
31 Jul 2013, 4:50pm
Before final fitting to the Mazda !

Made some good progress this week. Finally plucked up the courage to put the relief cuts into the rear end to make the convertible kit fit the Mk2 - had to make a few more than appear to have been needed in the hardtop.

and fitted the side repeaters

Nice Job! Them side repeaters look good as well.
2 Aug 2013, 3:08pm
They're off a Renault Megane!
21 Aug 2013, 8:14pm
I promised you some stupid questions so here's another one. I bought a pair of the Land Rover wiper extenders that Chris recommends but how do I fit the bloody things? Do I need to buy Land Rover wiper arms as well?
21 Aug 2013, 8:18pm
Check out 3 series bmw side repeaters too. There are some nice ones there too
21 Aug 2013, 8:36pm
Any wiper arm that has a splined attachment will fit , such as mini old triumph old jags range rovers ...
21 Aug 2013, 8:43pm
I presume I need to drill out the adapters though?

I can't find the picture right now, but it will explain the wiper adaption....
22 Aug 2013, 11:49am
Thanks Chris, my attempts at a single wiper conversion didn't work. Even tried investing in a pantographic wiper arm but it didn't clear enough of the screen.
26 Aug 2013, 8:03pm
Well that was fun. Squoosed adhesive all over the back end, by the time I got it in position the bloody stuff had gone solid so then spent the next two hours chipping and grinding it back off to try again tomorrow and do it bit by bit
26 Aug 2013, 8:28pm
I enjoyed that too, sets like rock.

Amazon sell the stuff for about £6
27 Aug 2013, 8:21pm
Woo Hoo! Back end bonded on and my K&N Typhoon arrived today. Just need to sort those pesky wipers and then it's mondo bondo time for the front.
6 Sep 2013, 9:08pm
Finally I have wipers!

14 Sep 2013, 7:53pm
Getting closer - Front end bonded on and started the filling.

Tidied up the nostrils

and put some supports across for the bonnet pins.

16 Sep 2013, 11:33am
Quick question guys, for those who have made the convertible. Have you put filler across between the Frankenstein bolts to raise the body work up to the same height as the kit or left the original panel there and worked around it?
