I know Gary said the 2.8 was fine but I didn't fancy the race suspension which even the racing driver who owned it previously described as 'firm'.

Now just a few hours to sober up and tell the wife...

I tend to find it's best when it's sat on the drive. It's harder for her to give you "options" then as the car is already here.

I will be leaving it alone for a while. I wasn't planning on starting until the new year anyway and this has already stretched the budget.

that open pipe is a breather so you may get some fumes

Roadster is right. It probably was designed to have a positive ventilation valve (PCV) plumbed into it and then hooked up to a vacuum port on the intake. Might want to check to make sure that there isn't a port open which would cause a massive vacuum leak. If this were hooked up in this manner you would not be smelling "fumes".

In any case you won't want to operate the engine with the tubing open. It will allow contaminants to get into the engine. At the very least there should be some type of filter attached.

Given the power to weight ratio I think you're probably going to get wheel-spin while it's parked in the garage!

I think I have traced a possible cause of the rich running. Under the big silver pancake is a choke that appears to be zip ties fully open!

Loving it already. I couldn't find the choke pull in the cabin so I took the air filter off to try and trace it. I found the choke was zip tied open.



There will be progress reports while I play with the TVR on Piston Heads (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&f=12&mid=208259)

I will start clogging up this forum when I start converting it to a Sammio. Probably in Jan/Feb depending on money.

If I can replace the high pressure EFI pump with one designed to run carbs I might even try a trip to see you Gary. At the moment the engine runs great and there is loads of power but the petrol fumes are a bit rich to drive anywhere for more than five minutes.

Fuel pump replaced.
Fuel Filter replaced.
Extra Fuel filter fitted.
Fuel cut off valve fitted (leaked and then repaired).
Cam vent fumes redirected.
Taxed and Insured.

Time for a reliability run. Southampton to Poole might be nice on a sunny day like today.

Sounds like a Tower ing achievement. Let's hope the ride isn't rock hard or you might only be able to drive a golden mile without tram lining etc, etc...
