Very nice obviously from the same stable and yet different, I can see a lot of interest in this one, are there a lot more spit donors available at a good price?
Psycho..
It certainly appears so .....they made them for about 10 years longer which helps...
I have been asked countless times if the Spyder fitted a Spit and I just feel its time to stop saying no...!!
Downside is that the later Spits aren't all going to be tax exempt - but they are still SVA Exempt and thats a bonus ...tax disc is a small price to pay to own and drive something like this ....
jmc mx5 cordite?
The doors and the more agressive style would suit the widening of your spyder.
Garry i agree with all the other comments, the Cordite is even prettier than the spyder - Im sure it will bring in more orders
simply stunning.i need to stop looking on here ,it's getting confusing
i need to make some decisions if you can produce a car that looks like that one i think you'll be busy for a good while
hats off to the photoshop artist too unbelievable job ,i need tuition
BTW what is that colour really suits it
Colour was just a colour from the range offered on photoshop ....I was aiming for the Iris blue type colours....the blues that were offered on old Mini's , Morris Minors , Jags etc really suit the cars...
The Bluebird Landspeed car blue is a good colour too....theres a Minor colour close and I think MK1 Golfs were similar....
I have seen a really vibrant blue on new T5 VW Vans called Danish blue that is cool as well.....
Gary, Chris is amazing. Your design is amazing. And, the look of this car is amazing.
I think that it would be cool to have him do the same picture in a full range of colors.
I don't think that I will get a car finished in time for the May Kit Car show here in the USA. As of Thursday my body hasn't shipped yet. I will be modifying the body to look like the Cordite.
In order for potential US customers to see what is coming I would like to hire Chris to take the Cordite design and widen it to 66 inches and lengthen the wheelbase to 89.2. We would need to bring the rear deck length, towards the cockpit back by about 5 inches to cover the Miata fuel tank.
Can you email me Chris's contact info and with what you think this would cost. I would be looking for 1 pic of the same angle you did, 1 from the rear, and 1 from the side. Then, I would have them in a range of colors. This would let me start a good website here.
Thank you very much. I believe that you have a real winner here.
Thank you again .....I called Chris last night and told him to give you a private message , I am sure he can sort you out....
My Spitfire Chassis arrived last night ....been waiting all week for the guy to drop her off and got a call last night at about 5 ish saying he was 2 hours away !
Appears that to go from Birmingham to Poole requires a detour all around Cornwall !!
Not a problem and was cheap , so thats cool....
I am going to find some time this week to get started ..somehow !
Progress might not be super quick on this one ...I am aiming for Stoneleigh , hopefully...
Trouble is Dave , if Pat goes bin diving during the build , he will probably want to change it a SAMMIO DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE or SAMMIO BEWARE OF DOG or any other sign he falls over........
Thought I would have a go at my own tweek of the Cordite.
Its my first go on photo shop, apart from puttimg two heads on the same body........ .
When I saw the Cordite pic I could not get it out of my head, totally smitten, then started thinking I would prefer a smaller grill.......so here it is!
I shall now take cover and prepare to be hung, drawn and quartered!

Looks good, but not all that different from the Spyder?
If I understood correctly, the intention is to make the Spyder bonnet fit the Cordite body as well...
The Picture link was missing earlier but all sorted now.
Have to agree it looks pretty special.
Can you p'shop it with black wire wheels?
No I can't, I am a boatbuilder, not an IT artist! We do this www.nickgates.co.uk.
photoshopping just the grill took me two hours.....its supposed to be a bit more Jag E type intake stylee. Smaller oval with big radius. Probably easier to picture than mould in Grp.

Nice rendition Nick ....have to agree with Baz though ....its a bit too close to the existing Spyder and G46 styling...I want it to stand alone a bit more than that...
Baz is correct in saying that we have no intention of changing the rear section of the bonnet or the bulkhead area ( little shorter but same shape ) and as a result , all 3 bonnets will fit all 3 versions !
Could make for some interesting combinations and also means that any Spitfire engined Spyders can be built without the need for bulges or scoops , if they want.
We made a start on the bonnet yesterday....found a spare couple of hours at the end of the day and thought ...why not !
Starting with a Spyder bonnet , a 550 outer skin bonnet top and 2 bottom halves of a German style grille opening , we started fettling....
I left Mike to it this morning and he put another couple of hours in , adding foam , glue , filler etc and he has performed wonders ....I am really pleased with his progress..one side is nearly there !
Tomorrow I will force him to work through his lunch and tea breaks and get the other side roughed in ...
Hoping to find a few hours myself to start the bulkhead framing so the body can be provisionally mounted / cut down etc. so maybe in a week or two , we might have a rough mock up to show off....
If Mike makes enough progress over the next few days , I'll take a pic or two....
